H3 replacement high wattage headlight and foglight bulbs

Has anyone had any heat problems with putting higher wattage light bulbs in the OEM fixtures? I bought some VisionX 80/100 watt H13 for headlights and 80 watt H10 for the fog/driving lights. I just don't want any meltdowns.

Has anyone had a melt down? I heard that the lights on a F-150 melted from high wattage bulbs, so I want to be sure I have the same problem on my Hummer. I dont want to have to replace the headlight assy pre-maturly.

The site I got mine from recommended those pig tails I showed. The connectors have a more heat resistant material than the OEM connectors and is supposed to be the proper method of installation. I run my fogs most of the time and have not had any heat issues.
I'm not sure there is any correlation between the GM Hummer H3 and a Ford product?

I was not suggesting a Ford had anything to do with a GM, but all manufacturers use a lot of plastic in the headlight parts. Well I installed the headlight bulbs and drove around for a little while last night and did not have any issues. I drove an hour this morning and still no problems. The extra brightness and distance the new lights provide is a great upgrade to the factory lights. Eventually I plan on upgrading to HID headlights. I am just not quite sold on the ~$100 cheap conversion kits sold online yet and $999+ for STARR HID headlight assy is a bit expensive.
I also installed a pair of VisionX 5700 HID lights on the Gobi. They look great. I still have to test them out on a trail, but so far I am happy with them. I will post pics this weekend.

I am running Hella Optilux in mine. 80/100 watts and 80 watts in the fog lamps if I remember. Have had them for about a year or more now. No issues with the lamp housing. I did burn out the DRL fuse, but that could have been coincidence too...

Thanks for the heads up on the F-150, cause I was gonna put the Optilux bulbs in that too.... may be not now.

Did you replace the DRL fuse with the same size or go up a size?

Nope, I just left it out. Was thinking of rigging up my marker / turn signals to be the DRLs like the early 2006 trucks. Other projects took over for the time being

I have Piaa fog light bulbs and Piaa headlight bulbs and they are fine, I did burn my housing though with my old HIDs.

I don't remember exactly off hand. I'm going back home tomorrow from college for break and I have the box somewhere, Ill try to find it. I got it of amazon. It was $88 hi/lo
