H3T or H2 SUT or ???

Looking for some recommendations here. My job is such that I put about 25,000 miles/yr on my work rig. I need 4x4, seating for 4, and prefer a small pickup box over a hatchback configuration. I'm on UGLY Idaho mining and logging roads for a lot of miles. I've been using a 95 Chev Diesel Tahoe for the past 5 yrs (has been great even though it lacked the pickup box) but it recently lost a battle with an elk so has gone to that great wrecking yard in the sky. I'm trying to find my replacement, and am struggling. We've got a Chev crew cab long box Duramax that we own and use for hauling horses and cattle, but it's not the handiest thing to use in tight quarters (and I don't want to shorten its useful life as our primary tow rig by making it my daily driver). Have been contemplating the Chev, Ford, Toyota, and Nissan offerings in 1/2 shortbox 4x4 crewcab configurations from the 2004 - 2009 model years, but am having troubles getting very excited about any of them, as they seem to be built too "light" to stand up very long. Started thinking about the Hummer option, and wondered if an H3T or H2 SUT wouldn't be a better fit, so thought I'd wander over here and get some feedback. I'm not interested in the Hummer for off-road play, but am wondering if it wouldn't offer some durability/longevity/reliability that the above 1/2 ton pickups may lack, as well as compliment what we already have with our Duramax rather than duplicate it. My initial look into this had me looking more at the H3T more than the H2 SUT because of the better mileage and the number of miles I'll be putting on it, but I'm open to suggestions (Hummer or otherwise). Thanks for any feedback.

I would do an H3T for usability with the bigger back bed but an H2 SUT for more power and comfort. Downside to the SUT is that the bed is small. Downside to the 3T is power unless you get the alpha. Upside is that both will do the job well and more comfortably then any other 4x4 out there. Both would do the job pretty well.

I'd go with the H3T Alpha. Having a 2500 Ram, I find myself jumping in the "T" 90% of the time due to better handling, better ride, and ease of parking when doing business in the city.

I've had an H3, H3T, and now an H2 (SUV, not SUT). Based on what you describe, H3T Alpha would be the no-brainer option. Since you are not looking to wheel it you don't need the offroad version with lockers which makes finding one much easier, but they are still not very plentiful (good and bad). You could get by with the I5 H3T if you're not hauling big loads, but you'll be much happier with a v8 Alpha version.

Thanks. My inclination was to look at the H3T first, so sounds like I'm on the right track. Now to find one to spend a little time in the cab and see how well it "fits" me.
