It finally happened. One of our wiener dogs buggered up his back and couldnt walk. Off to the vet we went and they refered us to the University of Wisconsin Vet school for treatment. They found a herniated disc in the middle of his back. Immediate surgery was recommended so we let them go ahead. Their orthapedic dept does several of these a month. Kirby came through the operation with excellent results and is home with us now. He is under strict kennel rest for 8 weeks. He is already walking and wants to play with the other dogs but no can do. This cost me the equivalent of 3 sets
of BFG MTs but its worth it to us. They said he should completely recover but has a fair chance he could damage another one later in life if we
dont controll his activities such as jumping off the bed. We are very relieved.

Wow, glad it all turned out so well. Not what I expected from the title of the thread. Sounded like you got the sack whack(vasectomy) from the thread title. It is going to be very hard to keep him from doing the things that could re-injure himself. My secretary has a boxer and he has had back surgery twice. Has done well after both surgeries.

Well, sorry to hear about you wiener, but glad to hear your wiener is ok and in no time it will be springing into action; so be watchful.

Glad your wiener is recovering. Maybe your wiener should have a ramp to get up on the bed?

Try and restrict you're wiener's activitied until it recovers.
