Half of driver's door doesn't light up at night

2009 H3 Alpha.
I just noticed the other night that my two front windows and window lock button no longer light up at night. Was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and knows what it is. Back two window buttons light up just fine. All windows work.

Mine was the same way... played with the wiring never got it working. Mine had a TON of electrical gremlins though... so it didn't bother me too much I guess.

The bulbs burnt out; not a frequent issue but not unheard of. Once member (in France) had soldered in new bulbs but I also think you can get new switch assemblies for a reasonable price.

My front two are out too. Can someone get the OEM replacement part number and price? Or what kind of lamps are in there to solder in as a repair.

Mine had the same thing, plus the tumbler switch for the HVAC controls. Likely I still have bumper-to-bumper and got it replaced at the dealer under warranty.

I'm having the same issue but its the rear window switches campared to your fronts. Not sure how long they have been out, I just happened to notice one night about a month ago.

On some of the later models the rear window switches did not come illuminated. We had this discussion a couple of years back on another forum. By now I have forgotten when they did that and I am too lazy to do a search.

Mine is the same way. Amazing how many of us are affected like this. I'm just going to leave it be for now. I still have a long list of car projects to finish, the least of which are these front window light indicators on the drivers door.

Here's the switch for 06-early 07 trucks. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-2011-O...e:Hummer|Model:H3&hash=item3a7b984e9b&vxp=mtr

Here's one for late 07 forward: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hummer-H3-C...Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c6a59c865&vxp=mtr. Please confirm that this matches your vehicle as I have an early 07 so I'm not 100% positive what the newer ones look like.

As for the rear doors, I believe it was in 08 that they removed the lamps from the rear door switches as one of their cost cutting measures.

To be "politically correct", there are no light bulbs in the switch but light emitted diodes(LED). You can replace it, if you are electrically savvy. Definitely not a diy for everyone. Some people are replacing the originals with larger and colored diodes.

I found a "how to" for thous who are willing to try. It will save you about 100$... :link: It is for the Nissan, but should not be much different from what we got.

I'm with you on the additional projects. I am currently building a 67' Chevelle restomod and I have more important things to do to my H3; the window switch lights will have to wait.

Was fortunate enough to get help from one of the hummmer enthusiasts ont there and the bulb replacement was prety straight forward.
the drivers module pulls up and out and the replacement bulbs are placed in from the back.

There is a thread about this...google...

I can verify this is 100% correct. you need a thin screwdriver or a plastic panel remover (2 is better). There are 2 clips on the forward and back sides of the assembly. It's basically pop out. I ended up losing a clip in the door.

There's 3 little screw to open the assembly and then i gently pried it open. There are indeed 2 bulbs w/ blue rubberized kind of covers. you can easily pull the small neowedge style bulbs out out w/o solder or anything - you can just carefully twist with your fingers and pop out.

not my pic but the back looks like this:
