Home security cameras?

Anyone have a simple security camera setup at their house? If so, what cameras are you using?

Had an incident last night where someone (I'm assuming kids) stole a neighbors mail box from down the street, and placed it underneath my car in the driveway... Thankfully the hummer sleeps in the garage, so it's pretty safe, but there's still my wife's daily and my bmw that get parked in the driveway. I have a corner lot, so everything is pretty out in the open.

Police officer said that they would step up nightly patrols in my area, but I'd feel better having some sort of camera overlooking my driveway. Something simple (maybe wireless IP?) that would just stream to my PC overnight.
If possible, I'd actually like 2 cameras. One overlooking my driveway, and the other overlooking my front door. I get a LOT of packages (mostly vehicle parts LOL) delivered at my doorstep during the day, and they usually sit there for a few hours until one of us gets home. Would like to know if someone steals something.

I'd prefer a wireless setup, as we have a really fast home network, with excellent dual band wireless coverage (2.4ghz and 5ghz). Also because I only plan to be in this house less than a year... Will be putting this place up for sale as soon as I find something decent with a shop building!

A guy at my work really likes the Iris kit from Lowes. Motion sensors that will alert your phone to movement and start recording. Wired is the best way to go but if your moving then its not worth the hassle. I will be installing a wired security system when I move into my new house but haven't decided on what brand yet

I recently had a similar occurrence in my neighborhood and currently have a security system that is wired. We think it was kids as well but they did steal my neighbors motorcycle out of his garage. I'm looking at this system which records when motion occurs, email alert and remote iPhone surveillance. Reviews look very good.

I use a cheap IP webcam and the free ZoneMinder software. ZoneMinder only runs on Linux, but I'm sure there are Windows apps that can do something similar. For the price of a cheap web cam, it does everything needed.

I have Dropcams. I don't like being tied to using it through their web site, but the quality is second to none.

I second the suggestion for BlueIris. It's not CPU lite, but it works. I'm running 5 HD cameras and 3 SD cameras.
Second the suggestion for wired - specifically POE or "power over ethernet". You can add injectors, or you can install a POE hub.
Finally for Camera's, I've switched from Foscam to HIKVision. Incredible bang for the buck.

Holy crap--I want to own your driveway--and have all proprietary rights to everything in it (ok, well excpet the Saturn--you know those will never be collectible, right?)!

As for home cam---I don't think so; my wife caught me surfing porn one time and it wasn't pretty. If we had cameras in the house she'd probably never use alot of the kitchen utensils again, in addition to most of the stuff in her dressers, and come to think of it, any of the stuff in the hobby room either.

Bad things I tell you, bad things.......
