How to fix door mirror ?

Hello friends. I niticed that my door mirror on driver door moving a bit.. i need to tight it.. how i can remove all plastic parts and tight something ? Thank you..

I never could find a way except if it's the mirror glass only I cut a piece of plastic for a shim. Thing is if you adjust the mirror it could come out. Good luck

I think it also depends on what's broken or loose. The mechanism that allows it to rotate is known for breaking off one or two of the "teeth" that are in there. I fix it by wedging something between the upper and lower part of the mirror to stop the wobbling.

I have this problem as well. The glass in my driver's side mirror vibrates when I'm on the interstate.

I just used some glue, and it worked, but does not fold in now.

You can take a black plastic plant pot from a nursery or garden center and cut strips to feed into the seam between the arm and mounting bracket. It's the same color as the mirror frame & once installed mirror is stable and the strips are not noticeable. I did both my mirrors when I bought the truck 1.5yrs ago and haven't had any trouble with that since.

I was told by the service center that there isn't a way to take them apart to tighten and replacement mirrors are over $300 each. Nursery pots were free and I always carry a pocket knife.

I pretty much did the same thing, but used some black rubber material I had in the garage. Works fine.

I, too, have heard of the black plastic "shim" solution. There is a guy on here (or maybe that "other site") that installed heated mirror elements in the mirrors on his H3. He did a very detailed writeup including pics, and he did disassemble the black plastic housing in order to run the wires. Do a search, and maybe it will pop up.

It's still not too clear whether or not there was anything inside (after disassembling) that would allow the tightening of the joint, but at least we know that the housing CAN be disassembled.

I have two H3's and all four mirrors shook at freeway speeds. I cut about four inch strips of the "fuzzy" side industrial Velcro, folded the mirrors back, peeled off the backing and holding both ends of the strip forced the strip into the gap. After carefully trimming the excess with a razor blade I moved the mirrors back to normal position. Worked perfectly and mirrors can still be folded back. Been in there a long time!
