OK this apply only when your button breaks it's tabs off.

Make sure you test fit the button as to where it goes in there 2 ways for it slide in so you have to be careful, and know how your going to place the button when you get started. Remember it's a one shot deal so test fit as many times as you want until your comfortable with the fitment the button will only turn so far towards to the rear of the H2
What I did was to get Lock tight GEL glue, then carefully place it around on the remaining parts of the button. Then I placed it into the handle turned it towards the rear of the truck holding it there in until the glue dried.

Hope this helps some others with same problem.

I did something a little different with mine, the shift button popped out after I was rear ended, the shop that fixed my truck gave me an 08 shift handle, which is really nice, but does not directly fit the 05, so until I could come up with a good secure solution to mount the 08 handle on the 05, I took the shift button and one of those black metal binder clips you find in an office and used the chrome part of the clip. I epoxied the clip inside the shift button and when the button is inserted into the shifter the metal clip grabs the retainer tab and holds it in place. I don't have any pictures, but this is the binder clip I used, its a size 5.
