I live in Kuwait and the temp teach up to 50 C° most of the time the car heat reachs atound 94-100°C and when its idle the temp reach 103-106°C, the fan keeps working most of the time, i don't see this happing to other car brands it seems like the H3 strugles with heat. Therefore, it will give me less performance and less life span. I am not sure if this is normal with my 2008 H3 as i want it as s long life SUV.

Is there anyways to solve this problem, maybe some extra fans? Or maybe equipments? The dealer said there is nothing wrong with it and that is normal.

You can add electric fans or modify your thermostat. H3 Alphas (V8) came to Qatar with two electric fans, similar setup you see on the Yukons/Sierras.

What do you mean by modify thermostat? Will the electric fans be attached to the car battery?

I will send you a pm with the link for the thermostat mod.
As for the electric fans, mine are connected to the fuse box and pcm (computer). Run and controlled directly by the truck. You can buy aftermarket ones, they have a control unit linked to the radiator and work automatically when the rad temp reaches a certain point.

Would you suggest to me a excellent fans for very high temp, i know fans are available everywhere but i am looking for the best option for the hotest region.

The factory fans I have are SPAL Auto fans. Aftermarket fans are widely available, I dont have experience with them but any dual fan setup that has more inches in diameter for each fan and a controller should be good.

Fantastic, i will install them and review them.

Does that that mean i have to uninstall the original fans of the H3 in order to install the dule fans?

No. The H3 comes with a clutch fan (runs by a belt linked to the engine) and its placesd between the radiator and engine. Electric fans can be installed infront of the radiator. You can remove the clutch fan (more power for the truck) and just use electric fans, but I recommend having both electric and clutch installed for the heat we have in this region.

How well do you think electric fans on front of radiator and on the back (remove clutch fan) would work?

Will there be any issue if i installed a thermostate that works in 160 F insted of 180 F? do i have to tune the car or program it so that the thermostate works with whatever parts it should be working with? Or it's just a simple setup just install and use.

I read is some other forum and this is what they posted

"i would stay with the stock one ! reason is if running to cool wont get hot enough, to burn off sludge/condisation, no heat or defroster, etc.. this is one time think gm ,did correct thing ..!! rkvette"

Another post

"As well it's possible that it could cause it to never reach "closed loop" because the comp will be looking for operational temps and 160 degrees is'nt it on a stock tune.."

Sounds like if you change the thermostate you need to adjust another parts of the car.

Wanted to share an interesting short video that made me undestand why i need to chnage my H3 thermostate :)

That video is way too simplistic and it's not how an engine thermostat (actually a thermostatic valve) works. The 'stat has two jobs 1) keeping the coolant in the block until the engine gets to proper operating temperature 2) opening far enough once (1) is met to keep the engine temp in the right range. Once warmed up the coolant (not water!) doesn't get "cool", it just gets cool-er. If a stat opens and closes constantly like that guy shows, its either the wrong one or a junk 'stat. A well-made stat opens gradually as it warms up, then holds open at the designated coolant temp for the engine to maintain temperature equilibrium as the coolant circulates through the engine and radiator. In cold weather it may not open 100%. If you install a stat that's too low (opens too soon) in temp, you may have cold weather issues with the engine or heater (probably not in Kuwait!).
