You do usually get what you pay for but some brands are much more expensive and not that much better. I have quite a few high end flashlights and numerous brands but I think the best deal out there may be the Streamlights.

My wife has gotten me a couple of Nebo's from the local Ace hardware. Probably my favorite to date is the Nebo Redline, $30. It's bright as hell, fits great in my hand, and didn't make us poor buying it. The only disadvantage the light has is it's "Redline" feature, which is the red plastic ring securing the lens to the body. Mine has broken twice, which for a tactical flashlight can be a really bad thing. After contacting the company and receiving two replacement rings, I finally figured out to wrap it with electrical tape (low tech and kinda cheesy, but my favorite flashlight) and it works like a champ.

Maybe the only complaint I'd have about any of the new LED lights is why the hell do they have to have all the multiple settings, high, low, flash, morse code, strobe, etc.?
I just want a great LED light that turns on and turns off, not all this gimmicky crap

All those funky options are mainly for Police use during interventions. Not really useful for civies unless somebody breaks into your house and you've trained extensively with both the light and your firearm of choice.

Tactical lights can be used to blind, disorient, allow you to see better, the strobes disorient even better than the bright light and as a last ditch means of defense the bezel of many tactical lights can be used as weapon.

Yeah, I knew about the strobe feature, which I found to be a cool feature, if you're able to stay calm enough to click through the other three modes to get to that one. I tried it with a dog that was going after mine and just couldn't make it happen; I'd hate to actually encounter somebody coming after me.
I never thought about the bezel, I always thought mine had a really cool shape and thought I could hurt myself but never thought of hurting somebody else.

Anyone have the Lifegear 1000 lumen, 6 cree tactical flashlight? Now that is the real deal, 100% 1000 lumen torch. Even comes in a case that could also be used as survival gear. It's the king **** as far as I'm concerned and I only break it out when needed to land planes in very harsh weather conditions as it could blind someone!

Sent from my XT1080 using Tapataint
