Looks like chance of rain on friday and possible snow above 4500'. That should make things interesting.

Ya its going to definitely be cold and wet. I'm getting strong recommendations not to run it this weekend from some of my coworkers that really know the road. Usually I would say a little rain is no big deal but I tend to trust their opinions since they are kind of the "authority" on it haha. What do you think? The lake bed is definitely out and I am just unsure about the rest of the road until it has time to dry. It may be ok or it may be awful since it is all low lands

I need to dig up some pics of a guy I know who did Mojave in the rain. I have never seen mud so deep and thick

I opt for running it at a later date. Next weekend is a lot better for me. My son has a football game Friday night and a birthday party Saturday morning so i wasn't going to leave until Saturday noon, then meet up with you guys at the campsite to run the 2nd half.

I am surprised how muddy the desert can be after rain. I thought it was made of sand....

some pics of from the 4wheelparts poker run in Boreggo January 26 after some recent rain.

Fun but muddy!

Ya I think we will have to delay for weather on this one. While Im sure we COULD make it through between tow straps and maxtrax it wouldn't be a pleasurable experience. Plus camping in and around mud is never fun everything is just filthy.
In addition we need to make sure to tread lightly. If the road is muddy we would probably tear it up and that kind of thing will result in a trail closures which we obviously don't want

Anyone interested in going?

I can't run the whole trail but was thinking half.
Leave Saturday morning and enter from I-40 Essex rd to Black Canyon and connect to Mojave Rd.
Go to the camp spot that afternoon then run the trail Sunday.
