As with many musicians, Jackson Browne is a leftist moron. Still, he IS an excellent musician and song writer, so I don't hold his lefty dumbassery against him (much). He has written and performed MANY excellent songs over the years, and has written many that were famously performed by others. An example of the latter is Take It Easy, which Browne wrote and performed but was most famously performed by The Eagles.
Here's one which became famous because it was prominently featured on the soundtrack for Fast Times at Ridgemont High:

Here's one I always liked, from the album

This one was off the album

As others have commented on Youtube, this is the best Jackson Browne song that you never hear played. Too bad, because it is one of his best, and definitely rocks. It's also good for cuttin' a rug to with a lady friend (or gentleman friend, for you ladies

). Of interest is the piano work, done by none other than Elton John. He is credited as "Rockaday Johnnie" on the album sleeve since he did not have a work permit (green card) to work in the US at the time. Of final note is the identity of Browne's "Redneck Friend" - if you can't figure it out, you're a moron :giggle:

This is one of JB's most famous songs, for good reason - it kicks ass. It's probably my favorite JB tune, and an excellent road song. I'm gonna post lyrics with this one:

Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels
Looking back at the years gone by like so many summer fields
In '65 I was seventeen and running up 101
I don't know where I'm running now, I'm just running on
Running on - running on empty
Running on - running blind
Running on - running into the sun
But I'm running behind
Gotta do what you can just to keep your love alive
Trying not to confuse it with what you do to survive
In '69 I was twenty-one and I called the road my own
I don't know when that road turned onto the road I'm on
Running on - running on empty
Running on - running blind
Running on - running into the sun
But I'm running behind
Everyone I know, everywhere I go
People need some reason to believe
I don't know about anyone but me
If it takes all night, that'll be all right
If I can get you to smile before I leave
Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels
I don't know how to tell you all just how crazy this life feels
I look around for the friends that I used to turn to to pull me through
Looking into their eyes I see them running too
Running on - running on empty
Running on - running blind
Running on - running into the sun
But I'm running behind
Honey you really tempt me
You know the way you look so kind
I'd love to stick around but I'm running behind
You know I don't even know what I'm hoping to find
Running into the sun but I'm running behind
