Greetings!
I bought my first H3, 2007 base model at the end of October.
I have owned Jeeps most of my life, an '89 Comanche, 2 '98 Cherokees, an '04 Wrangler, and a '98 Wrangler. When the '98 had too much frame rust and a transmission that was going, I had to get rid of it. During that time I was sharing my wife's 2016 Jeep Compass and when I climbed back into the 98 Wrangler, I realized how loud, and rough the ride was in it compared to her Compass.
So when I started looking around for a new vehicle I wanted something that this old man would be comfortable in, but would still let me take it off road some. I happened on a good deal for this H3. At the dealer lot, it pulled codes of P0128 and P0717 - a little research showed thermostat and transmission (it was shifting hard from 1st to 2nd.)
I told the dealer if he would fix the P0717 I would buy it. (I thought I can change a thermostat, have done it on most of the vehicles I have owned, it's right on top)
He said he would, so I jumped into the Hummer world.
It has been in the shop getting the P0717 fixed, so I haven't gotten a lot of miles in it yet, but so far I am very happy!
The H3 is bone stock, except for an Air Raid filter on it (I have to figure out how to clean that as it is filthy).
I put a JVC Kenwood head unit in it. Not as hard a project as I thought (Thanks Crutchfield!)
I have a new thermostat, and may put that in today if it warms up past 40 outside. (I have found out the thermostat is NOT at the top of the engine)
I put new wiper blades on it, the transmission has been flushed and a new filter in it when they did the work on it. The coolant will be new since I have to drain it to replace the thermostat.
Is there anything else that I should do before winter sets in?
Thanks!
Michael
