He posted up above somewhere it was indeed UHF, I've only owned two Icoms so I'm not real familiar with them...

One was a dedicated 2m rig can't remember the exact model it was years ago and a 756 ProII HF rig..

I was using two UHF radios this weekend on a hunting trip... we got some serious range and great reception!

Would love to switch over to that instead of CB

I think it a GME they are very popular here and always got the latest tech in them (need to be good here because comms here is critical)

CB's are disappearing here also and the ones are on aren't worth talking with most of the time..

I'm guessing that's the Aussie equivalent to GMRS radios here in the US? GMRS is UHF, with a few frequencies shared with FRS. Unlike FRS, GMRS allows 50 watts and repeater use. You're also supposed to have a license ($85 for a 5 year license), although most folks seem to ignore that requirement.

You re correct, we do not need to be licensed here in Australia for our UHF CB but our radios are limited to maximum transmitter power of 5 watts (but can use repeater)
