outer axel noise

left axel boot just torn and the other was getting there so I had both axel units replaced now I'm getting a clicking noise from front left wheel area when I start up from stop. simple job wasn't so simple. they have no idea what's causing the click.

You don't by chance have chrome wheels do you? Had a clicking noise coming from my front end, turned out the chrome was peeling on the inside of the rim contacting the caliper. Other than that it could be possible the CV is bad right out of the box. What brand did you buy and who is the "They" you refer to?

Regular mechanics been going to them for ages. can't seem to get left cv to seat. I don't think they have a clue as to what they are doing.I think the clicking is from the cv not seating properly??? I'm a little old to get under there myself.. Thanks for the reply

Is this an H1, H2, H3? Moved to Hummer talk from Tech Library, can put it in proper section once we know what type of vehicle. Assuming H3 - to get the H3 to seat, start with having the opening of the c-clip facing downwards when inserting into the diff. Then it has minimal contact with the inside of the diff and will move on a good shove. If c-clip has the opening facing up, then a larger part of the clip hits the diff making it harder to insert.
