I'm still considering it. The grill is a big deal; looks like minimum of $500 - $700 to change it out for a respectable one, then there are the chrome mirrors and wheels; though I can probably find buyers for those. As 06H3 says...its unlikely its ever been in the dirt. The center diff lock has probably never been engaged.

Pics of the interior? Do you know if it has the offroad package? So far, the only problems I would have with the truck are cosmetic. You might even be able to use that in negotiations, "this poor truck has been all blinged out, it's going to cost me $$$ to get it back to stock." Even with that god-awful grill I still say if it has the features you want and you can get it for a good enough price, do it. It's not like you can go to their lot and decide with of the 3 H3T alphas you are most interested in. Just did a quick internet search for a v8 H3T "any distance" and it came up with 22.

Most Alpha Ts you find are going to have chrome wheels and mirrors, so that shouldn't be an issue with this one. Since you are looking to buy a $30k-$35k truck, call it a grand to get that one back to stock - really pretty minor all things considered. As long as the interior isn't all customized up in some hideous way, there really isn't anything wrong with that truck that a weekend and a handful of parts can't fix.

The interior appears stock from the pics. I would use the de-bling cost to negotiate, but I don't think its much of a lever. That "handful of parts" is not cheap. With only the grilles, mirrors and wheels, we're talking pretty serious money. I doubt if the seller will discount it enough to cover it. He's checking to see if the PO has the OEM grilles and will turn 'em over. I'd really like an H3T, but not so much that I'll pay a high premium for one. Not when I can buy a new serious 4x4 truck for the same money or I can keep the '06 and buy a pretty nice pickup for the $15K price difference.

mirrors and wheels are going to be the same story for most Ts you find. From what I can see, the only non-stock items are the hood handles (thankfully not chrome), the powered step (may or may not be a positive), vinyl (which can be peeled off), and the grill. Not cheap, but getting it back to stock for under $1,000 on a $30,000+ is comparatively small.

Call it $700 for the grill - pretty much stuck on this.
Mirrors - I plan to eventually rattle-can bedliner mine (after prepping). Dirt cheap.
Wheels - I'm not sure what the deal with this is. Stock chrome wheels. If you are like me you want black or some dark gray instead of chrome, but I would put this in a "future upgrade" category not de-bling what the previous owner did.

BTW, how much are they asking?

If you are not set on a v8, finding what you want in an I5 H3T should be a fair bit easier.

It's there now! Thanks. Nice looking rig. How much are they asking for it? I don't know about selling the folding steps. Hans3T had a set on his T and if I recall, he was able to sell his. My T came with the gray steps. I removed them to put the rock sliders on & they still are sitting in my garage...was never able to sell them to anyone.

I never sold my power steps...they're in the garage too...

When this truck appeared on Autotrader last week, they were asking $34.5K...now its listed at $36.9K. Good luck with that! I think I'm over H3Ts.
