Power steering fluid leak

My truck has been leaking power steering fluid and I recently caught onto it because it has finally made its way from the skidplate to my driveway.

I popped the hood and checked around the cooler which I replaced last summer due to the previous one failing and it is dry. Everything I can see under the hood is dry. I topped up the fluid and drove into work.

Are there common spots or a good way to troubleshoot and identify the source of the leak? Those lines are hard to get at from what I can see... any tips / recommendations are appreciated.

First place I always look is on the pump pulley shaft seal since its the part that gets the most wear. You have to look behind the pulley to see if it's wet. Also check to see of the fluid level in the reservoir is going down. Check all the fittings too.

Amazing what a good light and not being in a rush will show.

Looks as if the seal on the top of the box is gone (where the shaft attaches). I have added some Lucas stop leak for now and will look into either a seal kit or a new box - is this common on the H2? What is the recommended fix?

So I ordered in a replacement input shaft seal kit from Edelmann P/N 8525. Pulled the box out of the truck and took the input shaft apart. The seals I pulled out of the box look NOTHING like what came in the Edelmann kit.

Did some further research and it appears as if the kit I need is for an '01 - '09 2500HD; Edelmann P/N 8777.

Has anyone else come across this on their rig? Does my truck for some reason have a 2500HD steering box in it instead of an "AM General" box? Edelmann's site indicates that 8525 is for an American Motors box and that 8777 is for Chev / GMC.

As a follow up the Edelmann P/N 8777 kit fit perfectly - it is listed as an '01 - '09 Silverado 2500HD part.

I confirmed via exploded diagram from the dealership that my steering box is in fact the proper unit for the H2.
