So I had a request for the axle information. I ordered a 71" 3500 lb axle in the same bolt pattern as the h3. In retrospect I should have gone with a 69" since this is a tad too wide the website used was http://www.southwestwheel.com/store/c-23-trailer-axles.aspx if anyone plans to use them I recommend ordering the matching ubolts it will save you a lot of hassle.

Alright picked up the trailer last night and this morning I've been doing some priming and then soon Ill be bedlining the fenders and repainting the marks where the welder burnt off the paint here is how she stands today. Ill keep updating it today as it progresses

Hey guys so this hasnt had an update in ages but let me give you a quick run down on what happened since last posting.
After driving to Texas I had some work done converting the trailer to a Pintle system. I figured the old hitch and tongue needed to go and with upcoming trips safety was my main concern.

After getting it all rewired a few buddies and I headed down to Padre Island for some fun in the sun. The trailer performed wonderfully there but the salt was not kind on my paint job.

Returning to Dallas there were several spots that had rust starting to show (on everything even my tool box) I put a lot of time and effort into this thing so I called a buddy with a sandblaster and we blasted and painted the whole thing this time in black.

This is how the trailer remained up until about two months ago when after several trips (a few pictures of them below) I decided she needed some changes

Now the biggest issue to me at this point was the original suspension from the 50's which had given the trailer the nick name Tigger. Im sure you can figure out why
I also wanted to fix the issue of ALL my things being covered in mud/dust/dirt/and anything we drove by. The obvious solution was to build a lid. I contacted a local shop I had worked with before about the project and he gladly accepted

This is where my trouble began. To make a VERY long story short I went back and forth with this shop for a month and a half making NO progress. Not only was he not making any progress but he was ripping me off in the process. In this case it was one of those sad situations of someone trusting a man based on good faith and a handshake and getting a good kick in the rear for it. I ended up with no lid just a welded on lip at a costly amount (near $1000). I did however bring him leaf springs and make him install them in front of me so ONE problem was fixed.

The last picture was the sad state she was in about three weeks ago. At this point I was defeated with this whole process to say the least and was looking at selling it taking a loss and giving up the whole thing. Thank goodness my hard headedness made me hold on just that much longer. After talking to some people I knew at Adventure Trailers and sharing my story they thought they could help. We discussed some plans and I dropped off some parts, including some solar flare paint :woot:and they went to work. Recently I picked up a trailer that hardly resembled anything I had owned before. The fenders are bedlined with high quality liner as well as the inside of the tub for the trailer. Its painted to match the T with an awesome lid equipped with two 150lb struts to lift the lid and basically unused gorgeous roof tent mount on it. The whole thing has been sealed up for weather and dust proofing. I will let the pictures say what I cant. Enjoy!

Glad you like it and you should get one haha. Mine is girlfriend/wife approved because it gives her a king size mattress to sleep on and keeps all of our stuff safe and dry

this is a great moab trailer. Keep spares and a RTT on there. How much did it run you? I can weld so that can help with costs. Whats materials?

Turned out great! In my mind, the cost is not important. You had an idea and over time you achieved it. Sucks when we run into rip off shops that get in over their head and we have to pay for it. Glade to see in the end it all worked out. Enjoy it!

Thanks all! I'm really happy with the outcome in spite of some of the people that ran unethical and disappointing shops. 06 h3 The base trailer itself can determine your costs to a big degree. If you get an m416 or similar military trailer you're looking at rock solid platform with pintle hitch included and no need for side extensions. At that point you're looking at a lid which could be pretty inexpensive if flat like mine and then hardware totaling around 100 bucks for hinges seals struts etc. then you have the option to do a higher quality paint job and sandblasting. I paid 300 for sandblast prep and paint but that was because I didn't know anyone with a paint sprayer. These things can cost as much or as little as you want. Ive seen people put total 1000 for a trailer and they are awesome but I've seen people build 15,000 dollar trailers as well. It all depends on your needs and wants.
