Question for service members &/or police about finding deceased family

It's a long story I will leave out about how I wound up with the items. I have a deceased Army Vietnam Veteran's box of medals (purple heart, ect.) & have no clue how to find the family to give this to them because I'm not going to throw it away. I have his name & previous address. Don't know if his family still lives there or not. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks.

Is there a dd214 in that box and are there any close units and or recruiting stations???

The only things in the display box are the medals but I do have some letters with the persons name and some numbers next to that. I don't know what those numbers are. I can PM this to you if you think you can help.

Good luck with your quest Bendy, as prior service I would want my family to have any medals I'd earned and if none of them wanted them I'd want em buried with me. This is a noble endevor and I for one applaud you.:thumbs:

Thanks. I would feel the same if this were my family member's medals also.

The recipient or their family will thank you.

All medals come with the persons military service number on them.

Veterans services will hopefully be able to use those to track down the recipient or their family.
