Rancho lift UCP...

Had some free time today so I worked on this some more...Now I am obligated to finish this before moab seeing all it needs is some welding on the top side and paint.

Anyways, Do you ever feel like you are having a really productive day? I was having one of those, done with my classes for the day, had the day off at work and needed to get this done. All was going well, the top end was all welded in, flip over the other side and start welding and ran out of wire. :gaah: Was about to run and get some more then a buddy of mine needed some help with his RV. So Its welded in about 50-60%. I gotta get more wire finish welding and paint it...Then its done. It fits pretty good, the one side fits like a glove because that side I lengthened seeing I bent the crossmember back a few years back. The other side was always slightly short because I bent the crossmember back but not as bad so with some persuasion, Hammering and cursing, it will fit. I kinda wish I lengthened that side too but whatever...It still fits.

You still have your OEM tran UCP???? I'm still on the hunt for one.

If you want to remedy the sloppy fit...get some adjustable link ends from PartsMike, Ballistic, or WFO. You can weld a threaded bung into the end of the tube, and then simply thread the bushing collar in or out as needed to adjust the length. Don't forget the jamb-nut. Just an idea...save you the cussin!

Alrighty! The Custom rancho UCP is now finished!!!! Welded, painted and bolted in! I was curious to see how strong it actually is so I jacked up the front end off of the UCP until the front tires were in the air, no broken welds and it held...obviously time will tell how it holds up when I get some force on it, I.E. smacking down on a rock...

reenforcement bars for the rancho lift. I welded the bars across to protect the transmission...the OEM trans skid doesnt work with the rancho kit without modification so I decided to make my own.

Often we all spill some fine Claret when working on our vehicles.......... I remember jamming a stanley razor knife and when I pushed harder it ended up full depth in my wrist (didn't bleed much till I pulled it out then the guyser erupted !!!!!)...............Welcome to the Claret Club.:thumbs:

Got 3 stitches, the metal tubing I was test fitting dropped and whacked me above the lip and slit my skin. I went back home and worked on it some more though, lol. I am almost done with cutting and fishmouthing the tube, then Tim called an hour went by and called decided it was too late...Will try and get some more done tomorrow.
