Road Trip

I just completed a road trip from south Texas to Tampa and back. I previously noticed at highway speeds of 65+( speed limit in Texas is 75) my cowl vibrates. This wasvery annoying on this long trip. I did a quick search and do not see a fix mentioned. Has anyone else experienced this and if so what can be done? It sounds like it's coming from the square pods right in front of the windshield and is predominately on the passenger side. It will do it on the drivers side at speeds over 80. I can't see how to get those square pods off. They look like they will pop off but I don't want to pull too hard and beak something. Thanks in advance for the tips.

Maybe someone else tried to remove them.
They just snap on. Try pounding straight down with your hand over the area where the tabs are placed.

Pulling them off takes some effort, sort of pop them off instead of pulling steady.

Replacement tabs are available.

When fully seated they are on there very good.
I have been running two of these remote lights since around 2006.

The clips on your H2 will look a little different than those on Hunner's H3, but same basic design. Ours are more of a metal wedge.

That being said, unless you are visibly seeing your cowls moving, I would strongly suspect it is actually coming from the plastic trim up the front of the a-pillars. They are notorious for being loose and vibrating in the wind. You can take them off and put some 3M two sided tape on the backside along the windshield side of them and reinstall, and that should solve the problem. To remove them there are a couple screws on the side just under the rubber door seal.

Thanks to both. I believe you are correct Scarsman. If I push down on the cowl area around the windshield wipers the rubber/plastic trim will come away from the windshield itself. I thin that may be the vibrating I am hearing. 2600 miles of annoying. I will get right on it tomorrow.
Hunner I do like your lights tho. I've seen some that are just static and I like them a lot. I may get them and pint the housing to match the body since the 'pods are already that color. Thank again.

Ahh the sound of silence. Thanks again guys. I pulled the trim and replaced the worn weather stripping with two way tape and it worked like a charm.
Now I'm going to look at an H1. Saw it sitting by the highway on the way home yesterday. Initial inquiries say it was stolen and has some window and luggage basket damage due to that. Winch, tire inflation system, AC and some other things don't work. Low milage though and body is in pretty good shape for a 96 model. This will be he first H1 I've looked at so it'll get me started. I got the bug now.

H1's drive way differently than anything I've ever experienced, and it's great. Don't expect it to drive like a 2 or 3 because it won't. Also, don't expect your 1 to become an every day driver because there's nothing practical in that unless you work at a farm or monster truck arena.
Once my chance comes to own a 1, I already know to make sure that it's going to be a an additional vehicle not relied on for anything other than fun (not transportation or daily transport) and if it runs and performs for a full day, i need to be happy and thankful.

It definitely won't be my daily. Ive got two other cars and the H2 for that. I've never looked at one seriously so I'll be taking it slow.
