Hey guys pretty new here and to Hummers. Bought an 05 H2 about a month ago. The up and down motors on my drivers seat are shot. Been looking and cannot find them. Ive found the entire seat bottom but thats about 350$. Any suggestions?

Does the seat go forwards and backwards? I'm wondering if your control switch is just bad and what leads you to the seat vertical drive motors being bad?

Yes, everything else works as it should. The motors power but the drive in them is shot. Ive taken the guide off the spiral gear and the motors grind. It is certainly the motors.

Far as I can determine GM thought the motor would never be needed on its own so they only offer the entire seat track assembly which includes new motors for over $800. :whaa: I'd be pulling the motor completely out and figuring out a way to repair it or identify it in some manner to see if it might match up to the motor for some other seat like a GM truck or car. I know Dorman makes a couple of power seat motors for GM vehicles but not for the trucks or Hummer but it might just match up or have bits to repair yours.

Look for a date stamp or identifying label on one of the motors and look closely at each motor. Having been employed by a power seat adjuster mfg. I found that most of the motors on each vehicle use the same case and simply change the end cap/gearbox to suit the location. If there's a decal it may have the manufacturers name/plant location on it.
