I feel most tires are useless if you cant clear them out and the type of mud I was in they just stick to the tread.
I actually went back to the trail today and took video and really tried to replay the situation in my head.
Over the past few days I have been doing a lot of thinking about that scenario I was in...I just cant figure out what would have been the ideal setup for something like this. While you cant have the "perfect rig" because each scenario brings different approaches...Sometimes a long wheelbase is good other times shorter wheelbases are better, trackwidth can vary and even the amount of flex can help or hurt a situation, IFS vs. solid can depend on the how you fare in getting out of an obstacle...I am just trying to learn more about my rig and what I could have done (other then avoiding the damn hole, as in your already in the stuck situation)
I felt like tire placement could have totally changed the situation too. Now bare with me here but thinking about a Solid axle I think I would have been safer with the front tire in the hole seeing it would flex out and provide stability...In this case I think the IFS was better seeing my front tires werent in the hole, The suspension works independently and allowed the front passenger tire to drop and put weight lower whereas a solid axle with the front tire out of the hole would of forced the passenger front tire a lot higher seeing they are dependent on each other. I am sure that probably confused the hell out of you guys but after re reading it a few times it would make sense.
I am just glad I got out of the damn hole safely, 2 things I learned, #1 Sounds corny but teamwork, creativity and patience really can safely get you out of a bad situation. #2 Now that I was in this bad position I will use it as a thing to base future modifications off of. As recon build his rig accordingly to the terrain he has tackled across the world, I on a much much smaller scale, can use this to help build up the hummer better. In this case I truly believe the trackwidth helped, still any little change in terrain or placement could of helped a lot or hurt a lot...
will get the video up soon
