Some back yard wheeling

I think this is good enough to qualify for this section. My boys are all into RC 4x4s. One has and Axial AX10 Scorpion crawler. The other two have scaler rigs. One is the Axial SCX10 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited, and the other is a SCX10 Honcho truggy.

This is my oldest boy's first attempt at 4x4 video production. They made a video of a trail run in their off road park in our back field, and he did all the editing and everything himself. He is the same one who built my website.

The video is of the two scaler rigs. The Jeep is all stock. It came with licensed scale Maxxis Trepadors on regular wheels. He just picked up a set of dual beadlock wheels, and they had a set of Flat Irons on them, which are just an unlicensed scale BFG KM2. In this video he is running the KM2s because he is still ungluing his Trpadors from the regular wheels. They are a little taller than the KM2s.

The Honcho has upgraded metal suspension and steering links. It is running dual bead locks with the same KM2s as the Jeep.

Both rigs are locked front and rear.

Ok, well, here you go! Let me know if you like it. He will probably be making many more! The next one will probably have some vehicle recoveries in it. I made scale recovery straps for them with shoe strings and electrical shrink wrap.

Be warned, the video is 17 minutes long!

Thank you! I plan to build my own truck from scratch. It will probably start out as a solid axle with whatever body I can get my hands on to get me going, since that will be quicker, cheaper, and easier. But, I have some ideas about doing a scale IFS H2.

Hmmmm. I just tried it again on two other computers and it works fine on both. Not sure what the deal is.

for those that can't see the video, are you using google chrome? It has been my experience if you don't update your chrome and there is an available update, eventually you stop being able to access youtube videos (sometimes all, sometime some)

I have thought about doing this as a hobby myself. Found a great store nearby that specializes in model rock crawlers. I just don't have a yard to play in. If I have to drive somewhere, might as well play in the full-sized truck.

Thanks for sharing!

You can be a cheater and use a tube frame or go for true scale where the fun and challenge is. I like the Toyota hilux kits for a base. Good leaf springs, frame, etc. makes a good base to build whatever. :) I'll try and scrounge up a pic of my old rig when I get home
