Some Good News, and Some Bad News....

Good news look like I'll be paying of the T little over 2 years before I have too.... the bad news is my new unit is going to Afghanland soon. This will be tour number 3 (14 months in Iraq and 12 in Afghanland) for me and this month makes a year I've been home. I'm not mad at all and to be truthful I'm really glad to be going over again. I can't stand today music (but I enjoy country a lot), TV shows about rich snobs blowing money on a junk and showing every way they THINK they are better then the hard working man and woman and most of all my commander and chief that's not from this great land. I love my family with all my heart and more but I believe in "For love of county" and will do anything that the Army task me with no matter how hard or have far I'm from home. So I have one goal before I go to the sandbox again and that to meet Jesse James from WWC and Monster Garage. I want to say I seen his first motorcycles mania when I was 16 and seen ever episode Monster Garage and like his motto "all my life I've been making chicken soup out of chicken $hit" and when he went over to Iraq for the wheelie HMMWV I wanted to join up (I know lame I know) but it's true. Now that I'm In TX he has a shop a few hours away from me and hope to take some of his time just to talk and show off my T that I wouldn't have if I didn't join the Army :horns:. I still have a few months home so I hope to build up the nerve to try and meet him. So now to why I made this thread!!!

When I'm over there I want to find a 4.1 T case, alpha Tbars, a cast iron front diff and front and rear lockers. Only good part is when I'm there I get more cash and those are the 3 big things I need. I'll keep you guys update with my time line and when I have the cash hope to have some parts waiting for me!!!!!

Thank you
Jay

solidjj, first of all, thank you for what you do (I have a lot of admiration and respect for anyone who serves or has served). Second, be safe over there. Third, the owner of Preferred Chassis (one of our forum vendors/sponsors) located here in Tucson (Dwaine) is a good friend of Jesse's and appeared on Monster Garage. If you want me to, I can ask Dwaine to try to set-up a good day for you to go & meet him.

Hey Solid---best wishes on your travels to the sand box, again. I just retired out of the Air Force last year, and had to explain to my wife before we got married alot of what you wrote about wanting to go and not having a problem with it. Some people would think we are out of our minds wanting to put up with the hell you do when going places like that. But I'd never have it any other way, its what we trained for and being in the States was kinda ho-hum. I spent alot of time in Saudi, Qatar and Iraq, so I can feel for you. Keep your wits about you and come home safe!
Thanks for your service and don't worry about taking 3HUMMER's up on that dinner offer---I'd be looking for a huge steak, lobster and shrimp! I always had a difficult time accepting thank you's from people I passed when I was in uniform, alot of time I didn't know what to say---other than to thank them for supporting us! You don't ask for anything special for what you do, but for alot of people, they'd be insulted if you didn't accept their appreciation, so who are you to insult 3HUMMER's if you don't eat well??!!
God bless you in your duties and your travels

Well said Twinmill. I put zero restrictions on Jay's choice of restaurants outside of geographical ones. I-35 Prime Steakhouse down to the Icehouse or any place he can find that suits his fancy in the area.

You may be in China during my next trip but if not come on down Matt. Jay there are a number of good steak places in Waco and a pretty good one in Temple also. Can't remember the name of it offhand. Matt may remember the name. If you want steak we will find a great place. With small kids it may be easier if we find a place close to you.
