Some interesting things on a local used H3

Looks like a jeep winch bumper made by warn if you ask me...

I have often thought that a JK bumper could be chopped up a bit and made to fit a H3..

Slice it down the middle & widen it a bit, then taper the bottom half into the skid, make a tapered skid as well...

You can fit a JK bumper on a 3 without cutting the bumper up. A few years ago in an odd twist of circumstances Fat Bob's in Ogden was building me a custom stinger bumper for my 3 and we'd cut the front framerails off to make it work. When that deal went south, I was left with a pair of bumper mounts that had been cut off an inch or two behind my original bumper. Instead of welding them back on, I started measuring and discovered the frame width was an exact match for the Jeep stuff. After doing a bunch of looking around at different styles of stinger bumper, I settled on a Fab Fours unit with a massive stinger. I bolted on some C-channel to add length to get the bumper away from the truck. It worked really well for an out of the box solution.

Anyway, that is an interesting set-up on that 3, bumper on bumper. It doesn't look like crap like you'd expect, but it doesn't look great. It just.....seems......to......work
I'd be curious to see how it's bolted on there; bailing wire and duct tape? (that's an old Dukes of Hazard line for how the General Lee is held together)

It's tough to build a bumper for the 3, even tougher now that they're no longer made and would be sold to a very limited audience. The gap from the frame rails to the bottom of the grill is huge, it's just tough to cover that gap and look cool doing it. I was working on making something work on mine when Christian was working on his Thor parts stuff and it seemed we just kept coming up with the factory style in order for it to look good.
I was trying to get a custom bumper built, but all estimates kept coming in well over two grand---just couldn't drink that Kool-Aid

Thats exactly it, it all ends up looking big and heavy... I think ReconH3 has come up with one of the best solutions so far!
