State-by-state list of off-road parks ????

I thought it might be a great idea to assemble and post a list (by state) of off-road parks on H4O. Like most Hummer owners, I enjoy camping and traveling to other states to do some wheeling. It sure would be nice if you H40 had a list of "approved parks" that we Hummer folks could refer to when planning an excursion. I realize that this could be quite a task but, if it helps I can assemble some info and links to the "INDIANA" section. I'm sure there are other folks that could contribute some info on parks in their home states.

Something like this might already exist...but, I have not found anything online.

Needs to be a sticky in each region. I really like the way 4x4trailtalk does their trail database, its just not a very active forum, but Alec did a great job on the trail database, interface, etc..

I like the idea and it would be cool to have a sticky in each region like others have suggested (even if it's the complete list of all states/same thread).

Each region has separate stickies for each individual State. Otherwise it maybe too much info for certain regions.

Great idea. I think this is where the state reps (CP, VP) would each step up and address their areas. Gunner has tossed this idea around before and may be able to help come up with a common template that lists name, location, trail difficulties, fees, notes, etc.

Would like to turn this into a wiki at some point but I don't know the knowledge on setting up wikis and integrating them into here.

At one point I was experimenting with the beginnings of a list for Texas and a static map as well.

The list was sourced from a few different places and took a little leg work to get verified.

Not all off-road parks are truck friendly…..sometimes it took a visit to the park’s web-site, others….it took a call.

The map was static, as we were not able to upload a clickable version on that particular forum, at that point in time.

Not sure if we can do it here yet or not. That is something Alex will need to look into.

The map was very easy to generate…..If you can populate an Excel spreadsheet with names, addresses, and URL’s, you can generate a regional map.

Even if it is just static, seeing all the park locations in your state definitely will help with the planning of future events.

When I get a chance, I’ll dig up all of my old info and get it to you guys so you can try your luck.

This is something I’ve intended to re-visit for some time now but simply have not had the time to pursue.

If you guys can pick up the ball and run with it, that would be out-****ing-standing ! ! ! !
