the other day me and my bud were moving some old furniture out of his apartment, when we got to his new house I asked him to open up the trunk and instead of opening it correctly, he pulled on the wrong side of the lever and broke the black plate half off the trunk. I ended up trying to press it back in, and it worked momentarily, I just try ed opening the trunk and the lever is now not even strong enough to even open the trunk, need help if anyone has done this before please help

Depending where it broke (if the interior parts are still intact) you can add screws along the bottom section to keep the plate in place so door will release when you pull on the handle. I did it to mine, then a friend pulled to hard and it cracked again. I now have to push in on the plate while pulling on the handle to open the back.
