I didn't mean for that to sound harsh but that's the only way I see for it. Maybe others can chime in...it's not really a kit. I guess the closest kit you can get is package all the pieces together and sell it as one price but other then that your on your own. If you need a step by step directions I can email them to you. Also talk to 07custom he just did his and this was his first big project and was really worried but it turned out great for him. Maybe he can chime in

yes but.... I called Rancho and asked them that question - they'll send you the list of part numbers to create your own "kit" but there isn't a discount.... meaning, it'll probably be cheaper to buy a complete kit. Then you can further discount by selling the spare parts.

oh yeah, forgot one bit. I ordered parts from Rancho for my RS 9000 shocks (the controller) - it took forever and I didn't get all of the parts in one shipment.... that said, I'm probably going to do a lift, but only buy their spindles and fab the lowering brackets myself..... IIRC, spindles were ~ 500.

So using this kit above ^ from ruff stuff for the soa, what are your options to make the front level to the rear? Is rancho the only option?

*Subscribed. Looking forward to this TAPDH3T

Fabbing your own front Rancho lift would not be too difficult, if it weren't for a few critical pieces. The knuckles and off-set torsion levers are cast pieces and they would be very tough to replicate.

I think it would be awesome if Rancho would man-up and help out us H3 guys that only want the front half. But that's asking a lot in this day & age. Rancho is a huge company, and the H3 market is nothing to them...(and becoming less by the day). I'm pretty sure they know that many H3 owners only want the front half...after all, GM R&D built several SOA/Rancho H3's. Plus the Colorado/Canyon boys are wanting the same thing. But I just don't think the incentive is there for them to offer it. They are known as a "bolt-on" company and they can guarantee the suspension performance and also cover any liability issues, as long as the kit is installed per the instructions. Once you stray from the instructions and start doing your own fab & welding...all bets are off. This reason alone would probably kill any sort of "half-kit" deal.

You might be able to recover $300-$400 of the kit price by selling off the brand new Rancho leafs. Hell...anybody with a Rancho older than six months needs em!

LOL this is funny - they may actually be interested in reducing their kit size, however, you can buy them separately!! I did it by requesting individual components. They have to do this for body shops and repair shops. Just figure out what you need and call them up.

Anybody know what exactly prohibited Rancho from making the replacement knuckles that could actually clear the factory wheels?

To get a wider stance to offset the change in height and the effect on COG.

The Wider stance COG change is a secondary effect of why the rancho knuckles don't work with the oem rims. The reason they don't work is because the knuckle is raised so the upper a arm can reach the knuckle. To lift IFS you need to either drop the a arm and use stock knuckles or raise the knuckle so the a arm can connect to it. Looking at the a arm design of the H3 it would have been WAY more work to drop the a arm and use a stock knuckle (like bebe uses a stock knuckle) compared to just using a lift knuckle and allowing it to be an easy bolt on installation. When you make the top part of the knuckle longer it impedes on the tire and rim. The stock knuckle sat inside the rim this one doesn't so you either A) need a big 20in rim or B) backspace it out.

B) also works well because you can offset the COG change with width like BU stated above

The fact that they did not drop the upper control arm is why I have refused to buy a rancho kit so far. Anyone see the pictures of the prototype rough country h3 lift from back in the day? They dropped the upper control arm. I really do not trust wheel spacers and want to keep the stock wheels. But to fit 38s+ looks like I will have to give in some day

If they used the stock knuckle then that means the the steering rack probably was dropped too...but we have no pics of that, or atleast I have never found them.

I would love to see the drop brackets for the UCA on the rough country lift. Idk where they would have put them.

What your taking about is a bracket lift by dropping the upper control arm it's bad news. Pretty much why most companies do not make them. basically it's about impossible to keep an alignment. I know super lift still mashes a bracket lift for Chevy and if you talk to them they well try and talk you out of it. They just are not reliable but they do sell because people want to keep factory wheels. I'll pass. I'm running a tuff country rancho hybrid.

I agree, I have seen a ton of reviews on a ton of different IFS 4x4s and almost everyone prefers the knuckle lift design over the a arm drop bracket. I have seen complaints of them being weaker and bending brackets.

The way to go if you wanna drop the UCA and keep an OEM knuckle is to do what bebe did.

I've got everything needed now just waiting on the spring situation.. I'm tryin to determine price effectiveness to by OEM springs or spend the extra cash and have it redone to take a different spring.. Due to the rarety of the hummer spring I don't want to have to fork up $400 on OEM springs. This makes my build not cost effective... The whole point is cost effective upgrade...
