terra or trail grapplers?

I've decided to get Nitto tires since I've heard good reviews about them. I saw a good deal- http://4wheelonline.com/NittoTires.19627, and I'm pretty much set on the Terra or Trail Grapplers. I like the aggressive look of the Trail's but I don't do extreme off-roading and have no idea how they perform in the highway. Does anyone here have tried both the Terra and Trail Grappler? Can you give me a comparison?

I have trail grapplers. I actually ended up finding a set of stock rims/tires and I'm running those for winter. The nittos are a good tire. Expect to lose some gas mileage and because of the tread pattern you may get a slight vibration at around 45mph. Other than that they are a great tire. Check discount tire direct. They usually have better sales than the rest out there.

I ran Terra Grappler's on my H3 for a few years. They were sturdy tires and wore pretty good. The one thing I found to be a downside, is that the sidewall was *very* stiff so it didn't flex very much.

I have ran both and the terra's are a cheap tire and thats about it... if you want an all terrain tire I would recommend any tire over them. The trails are a great all around tire with about the same wear and way better all around performance

I have Terra's on my 3T. No complaints, good light trail tire and more than capable street tire. Over 35K miles this year and hardly any wear. Been to rousch creeks lighter trails without lockers and they didn't let me down. Hold a good bead down to 12 psi. Overall I am happy with my Terra's.

Thanks for the reply, guys. I will probably go with the Terra Grapplers since I’m on the highway most of the time. And once I have a lift kit, I will swap to the Trail Grapplers or Duratracs.

Are you looking for mud or rock tires? In Cali we mostly have rocky trails, so our tires (I had good lock with Toyos M/T on H2, Nittos on H3 seem to be a lot softer) may not be very good if you do mostly mud.

Fuel now makes a tire called the Mud Gripper.. basically a less costly Toyo MT. Just ordered a set last night with a wheel/tire package. I had Toyo MT's on my diesel for years and loved them over any other tire I ran.. I had Nitto Trail MT's, Firestone MTs, General Grabbers, Coopers, etc..

I have both style of tires, on my H2 Nitto Trail Grapplers, and Nitto Terra Grapplers on my Chevy Suburban, both are great tires, but yes Terra's are a bit smoother in the road, as the Trail's will make a bit more noise, but honestly nothing compared to something like Mickey Thompsons, so the sound is not as bad as you think.
