ACDelco 24208576.... Is this the right one? Comes with filter and gasket.

Is there a way to change the filter without making a total mess of ATF spillage? Any tricks?

according to 4speedfunk, leave one bolt in at one of the corners and the fluid will pour out at the opposite corner. thats really all you can do. use a big pan to catch as much as you can and probably gonna wanna lay down some rags ahead of time. you could always add the pan with a drain plug once you have the original off. that way its easier next time.

I highly recommend the pan with the drain plug too.

Plastic hose down the dip stick tube and a pump hand or electric, I use a electric pump.

Link? I don't think there's an aftermarket solution here for our pan. If you want to do a drain plug you need to fabricate it into the existing H3 specific pan.

I installed a drain plug the first time I changed the tranny filter.

I loosen all the bolts but two on the pan, then use a small kid pool under the H3 to catch all the fluid. A hose down the dipstick tube would work, but I just use the kid pool, and do everything from under the H3.

I used whatever Auto Zone sells for the gasket/filter and I used Castrol Dex VI compatible fluid.

I have to go by the shop monday, I'll see if the one Amazon said was a fit actually does fit or not. Either way, It's getting a drain plug on it.

I think the Dorman is gonna be iffy. I think it'll fit the transmission but it's a question if it'll clear the front prop shaft.

Dorman makes a universal trans pan drain plug that can be added by drilling a 1/2" hole in the pan. Im gonna pick one up tomorrow. I've seen they work pretty good. One guy installed one with a little rtv for extra leak protection and hasn't had a leak in 3+ years. It's either that or call a local transmission shop to see if they can weld something on. I'll probably call tomorrow and see what they recommend. I'm still waiting on fluid and the new cooler and everything else to show up.

It was not back together yet, just based on looking at it in my hands. It might "fit" when sitting there stopped but not well enough to trust when the vehicle gets rocking around.

Since the IFS front diff is fixed, and the t-case is fixed, there shouldn't be hardly any movement of the front prop shaft?? It's Nike like the rear that's moving up and down with the axle. How come it wouldn't work while bouncing the truck around?

I'm thinking about chassis flex. With our boxed frames it may not be much movement. I just think about sliders and how stout they are (like the Rocky Roads) and have seen pictures of them bend, I wouldn't doubt that there is just enough twist in the chassis to hit. Its all just speculation for now, I think the shop really wanted to see if it would fit anyway.
