I'm looking at upgrading the UCAs what are better boxed or tubular and why? What ones would you get Cognito or Kryptonite? This will be going on a fabtech 6" lifted H2 running dual shocks.

Definitely Kryptonite's in my opinion, also Kryptonite's are guaranteed for the life of the owner, not sure if cognitos have the same kind of warranty.

I don't think the fact that its tubular or boxed will make that much difference for a UCA, the stress it at the ball joint, so the import factor about the UCA is the ball joint, joint angles, ease of serviceability/replacement of the ball joint, and of course price. I personally like the Kryptonite because the warranty is hard to beat, but there is obviously a price premium over the cognito. I also like these Camburg UCAs because of the uniball joints, which are rebuildable and have a little more travel than the moog severe duty ball joints. I also think camberg makes a dust cap for top of these to keep dirt from shortening the life of the joint.

It all comes down to preference and how you intend to use your rig. If your going to see limited offroad use, I think anything other than factory UCAs might be overkill. I have 197,000 miles and am not gentle with my rig and I have only had to replace the UCAs twice over the life of the rig, thats about 65,000 miles per set (1 pair of OEM and 2 pairs of replacements).

I currently have a set of custom UCAs with moog severe duty joints in my shop, just waiting on the current set to start to fail.

These are my custom UCAs with airbags I am working on, but its a slow project that is not high priority right now.
