RamRod, now that I am in Belize, I am liking it. I am building a winter home now. In the mean time, I'm out to see some Mayan pyramids. But I dough they will let me drive my Hummer to the top ;0) Lots of the raods are crushed limestone. Hard roads, and when you get a pothole, its like running over a unmovable brick.

When I drove through Mexico, it was a rush till I got to Quintana Roo State. Their you are safe and cartel free. At the boarder entering Quintana Roo, its far more guarded then the US boarder, and every entrance into Quintana Roo is heavily armed (and scary if your a Mexican). I drove long days and stayed at Gas Houses. Gas Houses are gentleman hotels. We of course were not looking for lady comforts, and you rented the room buy the hour, but they are ultra clean. Have full garages and you enter the hotel room through the garage giving total privacy. I was pulling a Wal-Mart trailer full of stuff and the Hummer and trailer fit in the garage giving us total security. And of course giving the Ferrets free run of the hotel room lol.

In 2002 my best friend and I spent a month on the road seeing the USA: Moscow, ID>Orlando, FL>Wash. DC>Baltimore, MD>NYC, NY>Hershey, PA>Orlando, FL>Jackson, MS>New Orleans, LA>Orlando, FL>Key West, FL>Orlando, FL, then flew back home to Idaho. All told with side trips we did around 20k miles on a brand new off the lot Ford Explorer.
I've driven to SoCal and back more times than I can count. Vegas a couple times too. Phoenix to Idaho was a long one, all backroads until central Utah. The worst highways/drivers of all? 1. Oregon (poor highways, ridiculously low speed limits, no snowplows), 2. South Carolina (NC and GA I-95 are 6 lanes, SC is 4 lanes. Horrible backups. 3ft between you and the car in front of you? Enough room to be cutoff by another driver.) and 3. Mississippi (gridlock in the middle of nowhere, middle of the day and people use the shoulder as an additional passing lane doing 80mph kicking up rocks on your windshield, WTF!!!).

We were bored one weekend and loaded up big red and drove to Melbourne via cameron's corner down to Bourke and then the Great Ocean road to see a mate for the weekend

Moab and back is about as far as I want to go in an H1.
Was playing around with a 8500-mile round trip from LA to St. Anthony Newfoundland and do a big tour of Atlantic Canada and a few places in between. But thats a long ass drive, with 3 services.. I'd do it but I think I'd rather get my truck flatbedded to the east coast and then drive it there and do a one way trip back.
I got some spare time this summer :wink:
