H3 Winch mount...need advice asap

I used my winch today to get myself out of a bind well the mount and grille guard were flexing forward when i mounted it i put in the oem plastic spacer back on both sides not really thinkin about it but its the style mount that bolts under the tow hooks...advice please...important takin it to Illinois to go wheeling and a winch is a must...

From your description, can't really know where the flex is coming from. Did you check the tighness of the tow hook base bolts that screw into the frame plates? If your going to mount & use a winch on an H3, the OEM frame plates are pretty small and flimsy, it's recommended that you weld on some heavier, thicker & stronger frame plate supports - otherwise, you're risking bending the frame plates. One of our forum sponsors (Ridge Demon - member name: theBroken) sells them here and many of us have bought and put them on our rigs. It may be the frame plates that are flexing & bending - not a good thing. The RD frame plates are a simple fix. Here is the link:

I would remove the plastic spacers you are talking about and reassemble. I bought my brushguard as a takeoff and didn't actually know it had those plastic pieces. I've never had them and it doesn't cause issues. I would guess that's here your minor flex is coming from.

Also, the reinforcements from RD are great, but I wouldn't say necessary with that mount. Your winch is centered between the rails.

I 2nd what 08H3 said, remove the plastic spacers and retorque everything to spec.

Thanks that was the flexing issue it was slowly crushing the plastic
