Winch Mount On eBay......Similar to DOI & Predator

Ran across this on eBay yesterday and was instantly intrigued. Its is similar in design to the DOI & Predator/SMA but clearly not a DOI or Predator/SMA mount. One of the things that interested me the most was the window for the spool. This is the only complaint I have heard with the DOI mounts (and even Boulder Accessories), is the spool is not clearly visible when respooling. It could also appear to use a 08+ skid plate instead of the usual 06-07. I contacted the seller and was unable to get much information regarding the unit, and he claims it is made by Mile Marker.

I was about to pull the trigger on this yesterday and take a chance but after viewing it several times it looks like it would affects approach angle unlike the DOI and Predator units. Feel free to chime in if you have any info on this mount :thumbs:

it doesn't look like the cable goes through the fairlead (which would be a non-starter for that mount) - or if it does, that's a bad angle for the cable to have to go up & then out through the roller and will put a lot of pressure on that lower roller and you shouldn't spool the cable from the top of the drum - so not too sure about this design. Does that make sense?

I dunno, to me it looks like the cable comes thru the bottom to me and would come straight out????

CNY, you're right & I have been looking at it & visulaizing it upside down - trying to figure it out & making it much too complicated than it is! :emb:

In that case, I really like it! I wonder if the appraoch angel is compromised more - I guess you'd have to see it in person, so why doesn't someone buy it & let us know! :corn:

It looks like if it is made for an H3 that if it mounts behind the tow hooks it would not affect approach angles because the rest of it is flush with the mounting point? Unless the fact it would hang down lower. It would think it would require removing the existing bumper so the winch would go between the frame. Is that what is a given? If it mounts that way it seems it might require removing the lower grill so the winch would be slightly under the main grill if it is that deep? Is that what you guys think?

I think my winch is 7 1/2 inches in front of the lower grill which means it sticks out past the tow hooks about 7 inches. I have not hit it,,,,yet!

Yes the factory front bumper is removed and this mounted in place (winch between the frame rails) like the DOI and Predator. My concern is it hangs down more in the center then the DOI, Predator, or even factory bumper and compromises approach angle. To me (due to overall height) it looks like it would hang an inch or inch and a half lower. Also, the skid plate mounts look to be recessed up and in about 1.5" confirming this but it is all speculation.

The current owner/ebay auction has $1400 into it. It's listed as $1000 buy it now, or make a offer - but any offer less than $1K he won't accept. For that kind of money I'd pop for the ARB. Trouble is I(and at least 1 other on here) really like this mount. I offered to buy the mount only and let him resell the winch - which he declined. Then I made a respectable offer - which is how I learned that the owner has $1400 in it.

I'm still not convinced that it was made by Mile Marker... Like we talked about on the phone Luis, the winch is... and he probably thinks that the whole thing was then made by Mile Marker. :corn:


I've never heard of a MM winch mount but then again if you ask my wife... I don't know everything. :hans:

Dan, MM makes winch mounts for H1s, so I was just doing a liitle wishful hoping to see if this might be a MM mount for an H3. Like I said, why doesn't someone just buy it & report back with your findings - a little H4O R&D for the benefit of the forum community. :wink:

Last message I got from him said he would take $900 (plus shipping) but that was the lowest. He just relisted it for $650 :link:. His information on it is very limited but it MIGHT be worth the gamble if someone was interested. I think it is safe to say based on the photos it will eat up some of the approach angle though.

I doesn't appear to be a one off unit but I have never seen the mount before. I really like the frame plate mounts/supports and plan on replicating these for use with my DOI or BA :wink:. Jason if you have more pictures or info, please post them up as I am sure there are plenty of people who would love to know.
