I picked up my 9000b Superwinch at Northern Tool for $299.

Typically they retail for $349 but not a week goes by those guys don't send me a coupon for $50-$75 off.

I just picked up this 9000lb winch from harbor freight, open box for $170 + $40 for wireless remote. Then remote mounted the electronics box with marine grade shut off switch...works great.

Seems pretty high for a no-name, no warranty winch.

Really? It is reviewed pretty well. I was worried about the weather/waterproofing, but since I mounted electrical under the hood it will be much more resistant. True that the 90 day warranty is not confidence inspiring, but it works great and costs 1/3 of any other wireless winch I found. Maybe in the future I will upgrade to a smittybuilt and I will be good for life.

Considering that its probably been sitting around for a few years, and that a new HF 12000# winch is $300, I wouldn't pay anymore than $150 and I'd test it first.

It was complete in box on the shelf, the wired remote was bad but I didn't want it anyway as I planned on using the wireless remote.
