Oh dang...does the thing drive or is he trailering it back?? It looked pretty rough...
Having read more of this thread now, I get the sense that a lift is in your future? Eh? :shifty:
Tim thinks I will love it though and will make a more capable rig and he hasn't been wrong yet...haha

I have the most "undesirable" year to boot. smallest motor, most susceptible to motor issues, not even an adv. package and this thing rocks. In all types of terrain I have done I have had very little issues. On road you can't beat it. A great riding 4x4 for on road, great Daily Driver. Mud, Everyone assumes that you need the big block 454 V8 with 44in mud boggers to do some crazy mud but with the duratracs and the I5 I have excelled in mud. It handles it very well. In the snow it did well also. I havent tried sand but power might be the only issue for me there. I would leave the setup I have now and never do another mod if I wasnt rockcrawling. For a basically stock height vehicle, it does amazing but I want some more clearance.
Custom UCP? Do the OEM cages not fit with a the lift?...new custom UCP...
Rear section does but the front section does not fit without modification. There was a thread on it, let me find the link.Custom UCP? Do the OEM cages not fit with a the lift?
Flash, I can keep costs down on the rancho because I can fabricate my own UCP which would save about 500 bucks and I have access to a lift and a buddy who has done IFS lift installs before so that will save me another 500-1000 bucks depending on the install price.

Wrong color. :giggle:
Lets be honest here ... costs to an 18 year old living at home getting holiday $ from family is much different than adults living on there own and respsonsible for bills and family costs. Dont you remember when you were young and had little to no real worries? This is the time to boldly go where you know you soon will not be able to. Get this all out of your system while you can, I say ... because the timeline for this stuff ... is slowly dwindling away. Live it up!! Do the mods! Regret about what could have been or what you wanted to do, is the worst emotion to live with.
I'm always interested in these discussions and was trying to follow the thinking going on about the effect this lift has. This is a shot of an H3 with one installed that ran the Mojave with me. You can see the back of my H3 in front of it.
I saw several mentions of wanting and needing more ground clearance and not wanting to drag the UCP as the reason for wanting a Rancho lift. It is my understanding that this kit lowers the diff and installs a new cross bracket to raise the frame and body. So somebody with one, how much added clearance do you have under that cross member and diff?
In the rear if I am correct the kit has higher arched springs, so how does that increase clearance under the rear diff, axle and spring mounts, shocks.
