H3 Air bag deployment problem

So what fuse should we be pulling when going offroad? I know this is not super common but its definitely a major hassle if its your vehicle. Hopefully GM makes it right!

It's a fuse under the hood in the fuse box, look on the back of the fuse box cover there should be a diagram showing what fuse is what. What I did was get a silver sharpie and marked the fuse so it stands out from the others. It makes for an easy removal.

I got a call from the third party inspector. They are looking at my vehicle today. So hopefully someone pulls their head out of their a$$.

FUR and I tried pulling the fuse on our first go at hidden falls (want to say fuse number 27) and it killed the airbags and sent us into power reduction mode.

Wtf! I don't think 06s do that. Does that have to deal with the newer electronics in later years? Didn't they swap over from 06-07

Only an issue on 08 and later models with the side airbags, 06. I havent heard of the steering wheel bag deploying, only side curtains.

I spoke wit my Gm rep today. her people got the inspection and they say they have 48 hours to review it and she told me I would hear something by Friday afternoon. I got this call at 1pm today. I must be getting dumb in my oldish age cuz today is Tuesday, how does 48 hours get me to Friday afternoon? wtf! at least the ball is still rolling. I have an arsenal of ideas and thoughts to throw at these tools if they come at me stupid again. I hope they don't make me bring the beast out of me. all I want is to have my rig fixed, and if they feel inclined, to also pay for my chiropractor visits to help fix and heal my whiplash from the air bag hitting my neck. if this doesn't go well, and GM continues the BS, I may be following in SickstringC's footsteps and may get a rubicon also. if I do, I will have some parts up for sale cuz I will not trade it the way it is with all the extras. tick tock tick tock

07 had side airbags and know someone who blew them on a trail. I believe some very late model 06 had side airbags too.

Hope you get a good answer. BTW, PITA non-resolutions aren't of course limited to GM. My buddy had to sue Jeep under the lemon law for issues on his TJ.

You are correct. I should have stated that they were standard equipment beginning in 2008, before that they were options. My 2007 does not have them.

I just spoke with my gm rep. She said they are not gonna cover it cuz the computer said the vehicle thought I was gonna roll. I asked if they physically checked the roll over sensor and she said she would have to check. I explained that in order to check it, you have to take it off the vehicle. I went off on her nicely, since she is nice, with facts that blew her mind. She said she would review the inspection further and call me tomorrow. WTF!!!

So today I got a call from my gm rep again. She said she is referring my case to someone else, hopefully someone that has a clue. She then asked if I had a vehicle that I've been driving and I reminded her that they refused me a rental. She then magically changed her mind and said go to the dealer and they will give u a vehicle. So I did and they have me a silver ado to drive around. They are confusing the hell outta me with all this crap.

So in 5-7 business days I will hear from someone else.

If they are giving you a rental, that is a good sign. I would refer one if my old reps to you. But now a days, they don't have pull out of their area. Tried it before and being out if state, it was a no go.

Free enterprise is a great thing. If you get screwed over or feel ripped-off...just go somewhere else. You have choices in America.

Gm just called and said they are fixing the hummer as a good will to me as a customer. They said the airbags worked as they should and anytime you leave pavement, there is a chance the airbags can go off. They also said they should cover my medical bills but it has been proven that the airbags don't cause injuries. Wow!!!

They say I have to sign a release in order for them to authorize the dealer to fix my vehicle. I guess I will see what this release is.

At least it's some what better. We will see how long it takes to fix now.

I am also going to consult with a lawyer because this release is bull****. So we will see. The service manager is gonna try to order all needed parts to save time.

Don't sign a release without getting EVERYTHING in writing, including repairs, medical bills, warranty on the repair, alternate transportation (if applicable) and recourse if the job isn't done correctly. As long as you aren't planning to sue them or join in a class action then the release isn't necessarily a big issue. But for GM, a release is a very valuable (and powerful) piece of paper.
