I gave it serious consideration. I don't know how bad the throw would be with an offset linkage on it to get it to come up the the factory spot.

Is there any way to fit the LS7 crate motor in the H3? 7.0L 427? It would be sick to have 300 ft lbs of torque at only 1,000 rpms. I would think you could easily run 35" tires with 4.56 gears on the highway without down shifting etc.

My dream setup is a BluePrint Engines 427 mated to a built 4L80. I can feel my front diff crumbling as I thing about it:giggle:

I guess it all depends on how much of an offset is needed. They currently make ones for the GTO but I do not know how much of an offset it is. Need better exact measurements but not sure how to get them without just ordering the T56 and sizing it up on there. I am having trouble just getting a call back on the price let alone detailed measurements.

What is lousy about upgrading to a new GM crate motor LS3 6.2l V8? $6750.50 for 430HP and there is a $500 rebate available. So grand total of $6250 with a 50k mile warranty sounds pretty great to me. Match up my stage 3/4 PATC 4l60e trans and I would be a happy camper.

my lord that's an amazing deal. for comparison I have about 3x that amount of money in the 455 Buick motor I'm building.... and it's not as strong (okay, 2x the hp but that's easy to remedy too)....

crwalkerasla - Yes I have seen that youtube video and it is inspiring to say the least but I must say it will be much harder going from the 3.7l auto to a 6.2l manual. There is a great report from Chris on all the parts needed to do a V8 swap to the I-5 motors. Many people have paved the way for guys like me to follow.

Chris Laun - That is a sick motor but to be honest I think its over kill for what I want my H3 to do. 420HP with a 6 speed manual is a LOT of power for an off road 4x4 IMO. Plus I like the $6250 half price of the GM crate motor. For the cost of that motor installed I can finish replacing the entire drivetrain. I just have to wait a little more with our first kid on the way in a month. I am experiencing the joys of cashing my paycheck at the kid store...

SuperBuickGuy - Yes I felt that price is really nice and if anything goes wrong with the engine I can stop by any GM dealer for service on it full warrantied. My nice PATC 4l60e is either going to be put into the H3T I got or just sell it to offset the cost of the new T56 manual.

why not a nv5600?

the wider the hp and torque bands the less you need more gears. most new cars have a zillion gears because their torque band is narrow and/or there are emission requirements that demand it.... two reasons that tend to never come up on the hot rodder's radar.

RamRod - Yes I was looking for an ultra low mileage one for awhile and finally found it.

SuperBuickGuy - The nv5600 is absolutely huge in size. They show a swap done for a guys truck and they did a 4" body lift just to fit it. It also weighs some 360+ lbs. The gear ratio is pretty crazy in them with the first gear being 5.63:1 !!! WOW and if you ever drive one they are big sloppy seconds lol... The shifts feel like a semi's. I owned one of the first GTO's in 2004 to be imported here to the US and it had the 5.7l with the T56 corvette manual in it. It shifted with purpose. Feeling like it was an exotic sports car. I would love to have that feeling in an H3. A Corvette drive train in the H3 just sounds like lots of fun.

You picked up an H3T as well!?
