T-Case does not like shifting to low range

Hi guys,

I was out playing a little bit on North Main Divide road today and had a little bit of difficulty getting the T-Case to stay in low range.

Here's what happened:

1: Stopped, put the transmission in N and shifted the tcase to low range and saw the green tcase lock light come on.
2: When I put the transmission in D, the tcase light went out and the tcase shifter popped into neutral
3: I shut down the engine and shifted the tcase back into low
4: started up and drove off and everything was normal.
5: Coming off the trail, I did a semi tight turn and the T-case light would flicker on and off

In the past I have had a little bit of trouble getting the truck into low range, but once there it always stayed there.

What do you all think?

Update: So far I am finding through research that it could be a matter of the shifter linkage needing an adjustment

I am shocked no one has responded here yet. BUMP for you. I am sure Tustin can figure it out easy if it comes down to that.

I don't know alot about tcases except you shift them like you hate them and if they pop out of gear it could be a part inside the tcase that is worn...a cheap part, but you have to open the tcase to replace it. I seem to remember them being the little plastic shifting fork thingamabobbers? David...Kurt...help!

They are a bit cantankerous. I sometimes have trouble getting them to pop into low, sometimes the will pop out a few times and the light can be on or off and doesn't always correspond to what is going on with the t-case. It has never indicated a real issue with the t-case. Not saying you don't have an issue but try it several times over the next few days and see if you get the same result.

:) Sounds about right. For now it's something I'll keep a closer eye on and see if it's something I can consistently reproduce. Last time in Moab, I had the same thing happening once or twice but once it was in low range real good, it worked just fine as always. -After all this is a 14 year old vehicle so I'd say it's entitled to have a few personality disorders

And with Dave's recommendation you now have an extra excuse to drive it around over the next few days.
