Previous owner had the water pump replaced but old fan clutch is still in place. I want to replace the fan clutch but GM has discontinued part #25844696. What are you guys using in its place? I tried doing a search but nothing came up?
None of the parts listings shows an alternate. Rock Auto shows a water pump with a fan clutch attached but I already have a new water pump.

The Hayden one is actually a heavy duty one which will give you better performance over OEM. That being said, if for some reason you want the OEM one, I actually do have one used. Has less than 1000 miles on it. I bought it back a while ago, but then I upgraded to the Hayden one.

I like the sound, definitely set it apart from other vehicles. Just read some others saying it was a bad fan. Thanks for the info.

I’m keeping my oem fan. It seems some people (not on here) were saying the low fan noise was a defective clutch fan, but I’m finding out it’s just the nature of the fan. Thanks for the responses everyone.

Do what you want, but I don't like Efans. There's no such thing as free power. Mechanical clutches don't need any thing to work but physics to work.
I hear ya. Efans are not free to power, but they are when they are not running. Like all Winter long up North... What they do is free up power that the OEM fan sucks up all the time the engine is turning and more so when hot. That is why nearly all new trucks have Efans.

When I used to drive the 07 in the MI late Fall, Winter, early Spring, the fan might come on a couple times a month. My 09 Alpha is parked for Winter to keep it's no rust that way, but on those cold dry days when it is on the road, the Efans never come on.

E fans are great, if you have modern OEM e fans, like the 800 watt JL fan or Camaro fan. Aftermarket e fans just don’t move enough air.

Say what? There are several Efan kits made for the H3, buy the right one and it will move plenty of air sufficient to cool a Cam Swapped Alpha with AT.

Is there a Severe Duty Hayden fan clutch for the H3 Alpha??? I tried to find something on a 5.3L in the catalog but was unsuccessful.

I'm in Arizona and run hot anyway so I'd prefer the Severe Duty. I used to run 1 on my 8.1L 3/5 ton Suburban in the summer. It literally ROARED, and slammed the temp gauge down!!!

I'll try and call Hayden tomorrow.

Later,

Matt

Called Hayden, worthless, just some mouth breather who looked up my vehicle in the e-catalog. "nope, no SD fan clutch for this vehicle."
