    H3 alpha drivetrain

I was thinking about it . . . but now is not the time. All of my allowance is going into getting the engine back into my Silverado.

    H3 H3 Alpha vs H3 I5........having had both.......hmm

If you want to "wake up" that Alpha you should change the gears from 4.10 to 4.56. That's a common swap and greatly appreciated by any Alpha owner that's done it. It will be a night and day difference and you'll probably get to what you were expecting from it.

    Climate control issue

Here is the fix from our friend Hunner. This is an OLD problem that I haven't seen come up in years. Heck, it's so old you could still find Radio Shack stores. The procedure here is the HUNNER method of installing it. Proceed at your own risk. I did not disconnect the battery as I wanted to...

Wow, I got a lesson in LS lifter failures!

I believe that tar is in every gas direct injection engine. Valves are no longer getting washed by gasoline since the spray is in the cylinder, not in the head. And F5, damn glad to see you!

    Let’s Talk Handheld navigation/Satellite Phones.

Onstar is dead in our vehicles since we had 2G technology. It does of course exist in new GMs.

Wow, I got a lesson in LS lifter failures!

Ugh, sorry to hear that. Oh, I should clarify that my engine is an LT. Not that it matters much for this issue.

    Winch mount.

    Looks good!

Did the H2 ever have a single speed t case?

Never heard that either. Let him back it up. Hummers have always been 4WD vehicles, not AWD vehicles. Part of their genetic nature, just like 2WD USPS mail trucks are part of the Jeep DNA :) BTW, have you seen the recent Trailmater video with some Moab guys taking a AWD Subaru on Hell's...

Winch mount. I"ll get it bent painted and mounted tomorrow. Just got the H3 in May. Highlift Jack mount and rock sliders soon.

So this will be going on the front bumper, mounted behind the D-rings?

John, sorry, I forgot that with this version of the forum software that I can't do those badges anymore. I'll have to close and/or remove this thread.

    Oil usage observations

In my continued search for The World's Greatest Snake Oil™, I have an update regarding my H3. I took it to Kansas from Phoenix. About 1100 miles on the way there (a couple of detours) and 1000 miles on the way back. Between Phoenix and just east of Albuquerque, there are several long grades to...

    Still looking

I'll be using Nikal's approach soon for my driver's seat with a hole in the upright bolster and worn leather on the back. Plenty of decent auto interior shops around here, and I know one that will likely replace those panels for $150 or so.

    Hummer EV supercharging?

Congrats! And I think you can put much bigger batteries and electric motors into that toy. You've got a few years to get it ready. Looks like you already did the SAS on the front end of that one.

    S.O.S please

None exists. The only kit that was out there in recent years was from Rancho and it is not in production or in inventory. The only way to get one is if someone is taking it off their H3 or to buy a used H3 that already has it installed.

    Let’s Talk Handheld navigation/Satellite Phones.

In regards to navigation, from what I’ve seen is that phones and Garmin essentially have the same accuracy (on paper), but I’ve also seen that they don’t have the same results. I’m going to replicate some tests soon that I saw someone else do, which is to carry both a phone and a Garmin (I have...

    Oil usage observations

Progress update: after 700 miles, didn’t have to add oil. Then took it on a road trip about 1150 miles one way and it used 1.5 quarts. For me and this engine, that’s acceptable and a bit of an improvement. From Phoenix to east of Albuquerque there are a lot of hills, so the engine spends a lot...

    U0101 Code and TCM issues

That’s a good (bad) one. Honestly, haven’t heard this one before. Since you have a 2010, the TCM is a separate module from the PCM (this changed in mid-2007) so it should be easier to source/replace if necessary. About $130 on eBay for a refurb one and this guy will program it to your VIN for...
