About them pictures at the beginning of the thread. Somebody in a little jeep actually laughed at a Hummer... When I see those little Cherokee's I usually laugh... Way to show them what a Hummer is all about..

I deal with that **** all the time. I'm a hummer fanatic and just do my thing and have fun. Normally by the end of the day they change their opinion. I need to find that thread on a jeep forum where they posted up a trail report and one of the posters said something about winching me through the whole trail and the guy said no that "baby Humvee" went through everything and the driver wasn't afraid of damage, he pushed it to the limits :D

Here it is on the truck...Thats right no greenies can mess with my gas :)

Idk why but sometimes the red paint looks orange in pictures anyways here it is...Nice subtle touch, and looking at the last pic I realized I have added a fair amount of scratches and scrapes.

Ok...heres an update on squeaky! Today I did some light wheeling with my brother, I have some more mods I havent posted up too. I also hit 90k miles!!! Wow, I cant believe it. Squeaky is also going to be 7 June 8th. Time flys, I remember back in 05 when she was a lease and I was all bummed out how we didnt get the chrome package. LOL.

So, onto the mods. I added a safari straps fire extinguisher mount with an extinguisher specifically for auto fires. I plan on getting a 2nd strap with the regular ABC extinguisher. I know there was some concern with safety as the extinguisher could fall out during a rollover. I never thought of that but after it was brought up I had that concern too but let me tell you, in person you wont have that fear. I feel this is the best setup. You really strap that thing down and the extinguisher will not come out unless you really try and work it out of the holder. I also met with safari straps and they thought about adding a top strap but felt in case of a fire it was too much of a hassle trying to get it out. I agree with that and personally feel how they have set it up is the best way. Here is a crappy pic...

I also went to ruby canyon, real simple trail, just get some dirt on the tires and to get away from civilization for an hour or two. It was real fun...I had no pictures of the hillclimb my brother and I attempted but I will be back to give it another shot. It was an off shoot obstacle and was rather steep, extremely rutted, loose rock and very loose dirt I tried first and had no luck getting up. I didnt spin a tire walking up 95% but the end of it just got me high centered, even with the lift. So I back up with a new line and put on the locker and made it a tad further but no luck. So my brother tries and gets stuck in the same spot and got high centered also. I was shocked as I never seen him get high centered. He backs up and felt by disconnecting the added flex would help. I put him on a great line and with the added flex he almost made it but didnt. He smacked his tie rod on a rock but didnt bend it luckily. So finally he felt there was no way he could get up, especially without lockers. So I give it a go and take the same line I put him on and was right there but couldnt get the tires to grab. I was so damn close! I did back down though as I wasnt aired down and didnt want to risk breaking. It was fun and I must say moab is the place to learn how to wheel! My inclinometer was in the 30's up/down and low teens side/side and in the past I would always fear a rollover at those #'s. Now I was so calm, pushing my 3 on the off camber stuff in moab really makes the stuff I used to freak out over not bad at all. So I will be back aired down, disconnected and locked up ready to conquer that bastard!

Here are some water crossings we hit today.

Update: Just a tad under 92k miles...Squeaky is doing good for the most part and I did another modification.

Air doc intake: I still need to readjust the clamps so they look nice, yes I am very OCD...

I need to go back to the storage unit!
New steering rack w/16mm tie rods, stock intake, hubs, diff brace and my old gas cap lol

I like it! It is definitely peppier off the line. I did this mod more for the DD aspect. I haven't had any issues with lack of power on the trail but on the road it's a slug. We all add bumpers racks tires winches etc. and it really slows us down so this and a PCM tune will hopefully help get me a tad closer to factory. So far I like it...

hey guys, heres an update. Squeaky has seen quite a few tough trails this year with the rancho kit I added back in January. While I dont off road as much as backcountry I would say I see more trails then the average. I have counted 20 trail days this year ranging from tougher trails to easier stuff and I know I have probably missed a few so I wouldnt be surprised if I had about 25 days this year. hitting just a few hundred miles short of 93K miles its time for some more mods and some TLC.

The steering rack
-I know many think its weak but it has held up well for me. Its the original rack from 7 years/93k miles ago. The bushings are shot (I assume that cause I can hear play), it has seen extreme amounts of play when the sleeve came out and it would be silly of me not to throw in the brand new one sitting on the floor in the garage. I am in no rush to throw it in as I am going to wait for my new hunner sleeve to come in and I will add a 2nd mounting bracket. While I havent seen the rack fail I have heard of it, Bebe has taken her steering rack through the rubicon and fordyce and all tough trails through moab yet it people break them all the time...Either way I would like to put some reenforcement in there just to be safe.

Spring over
-One of the first things I learned while hopping on the forums is that it is easy to get carried away and make a huge list of **** to change but have no real proof to why the change is necessary. For the past few years I have been wheeling my hang up has always been the rear end of the vehicle, either the spring hanger or leaves it self. I threw on the tomp low profile shock mounts and I never had a hang up again on the leaf spring mounts. When I lifted it the deavers greatly reduced my clearance and have been an issue ever since. So instead of going back to the rancho leaves or adding shackles or airbags its time to just go with a spring over. I feel this is the ticket to making the H3 a good wheeler to an ever better wheeler. I am scared but have the parts ordered and am doing it next weekend (4th and 5th)

Diff-
Its held up well, I just keep wheel spin as low as possible. the driver side diff bushing is shot...gonna have to replace that, I replaced the other side before moab and is still in good shape. The rancho crossmember diff bushing has done well but I am starting to feel a clunk. so I may have to order a replacement or get an arizona rancho rig down to dwaine!

Trans-
I replaced a part in the trans that was pulling the code. After replacing it the trans was still randomly downshifting at freeway speeds, but after a few weeks it stopped and the trans is shifting perfectly again. WOOHOO!

Other then that squeaky is doing good. I wheeled with the doors off yesterday and the visibility increase is insane! dropping some lbs. is a good thing too lol.

You're learning grasshopper! It never ceases to amaze me how many backyard mechanics think they know more than all the engineers that designed the vehicle. Almost every change has a detrimental impact in some way or another and often the detriments out way the benefits.

Going to do the spring-over with the Deaver springs? That will make her tall! Does she still squeak since you went to the Deaver Springs?

She doesnt squeak lol and I am going back to stock springs so it should sit nice and level...I sure as hell dont know as much as the engineers. I know the GM engineers did it as did bebe and 4speedfunk. Not sure what they thought but after the concept hummer went under so who knows if they would have come up with a spring over in a gen2 H3(T). I know one spring over H3 rolled and that was a concern of mine the one that sold in wisconsin and brought to so cal about 15min from where I live is the one that rolled. I did some research and luckily I saw the rig and the rear sat about 3 inches taller then the front and the front was torsion bar cranked to the max so he was around 6-7in of lift in the front and 9-10 in the rear. which is wayyyy too tall! I will be keeping my lift height the same. That guy used alcan springs (like deavers) and 4speed is running stock springs and bebe is a custom pack. Bebe and neo spoke to the engineers maybe they can say what the engineers thought...

Cody That was not a shot at your list at all...I was just stating that when I first came on here I had a list without much testing but now my list has gone more to stuff that is necessary in my eyes. I know your need for the swap will help in the towing area. If I had the money to do a 6.2 I would be interested but I dont lol

It's always fun to see your build thread, Chris.

Please do keep me in mind on the Deaver's when you go back to stock springs. If you need spares, we can sure work my OEM springs into deal.

Right now, with my double-add-a-leaf setup, my rear end feels like it is made of stone when I go over bumps. I'd love to not fear pot-holes and speed bumps again and I think the Deaver's would work. My new wheeling habitat is mostly sand so no worries about springs "scraping" a little for me.

Chris I was just kidding about the list. Some things on there I know I don't need in this area of the States but I know I will eventually. I just wanna make the ultimate rig and I don't have the technical know how that some of you guys have but I'm learning. Rather have some friends that do know help me install things so I will learn when it all goes in, so then maybe I'll be on your technical level Chris haha!

Looking forward to your SOA as well

Heres a quick update...With squeaky at 93k miles on the clock most is going well...Motor and trans are still pulling strong. Interior is still nice, just a tad dusty and my paint is still scratched to **** from all those damn tree branches that dont get outta the way. :)

As most of you know Squeaky underwent some surgery. After Installing the rancho lift back in January (not sure on exact mileage when installed but have it written down somewhere) I literally spent months coming up with solutions for the rear. After dealing with sagging springs, rancho sent me a new set and had the same issue. Then I did what I thought was the best solution for dealing with these POS springs, I went down to deaver and saw what they could do. As they did they job they just sat way too low with 11 leaves in the pack. Finally I pulled out the grinder, welder and grew a pair to start chopping on the truck. I went with a spring over for optimum clearance. The spring hanger clearance with a tbar crank and 35s was 11inches rancho lift was 13.75 and now the new clearance is 18.5in! She sits tall though, at 28in hub to fender netting around 5.5inches of lift. I am concerned but at the same time not too concerned as bebe did wheel hers with that height on some very tough trails. As time goes by hopefully she will sag down to 27in hub to fender. Either way I will run this setup unless I feel unstable and will look for ways to lower it a tad.

Just got two new duratracs...I like them overall my only complaint is performance in loose dirt climbs. As much as I wanted MT/R's I couldn't do it with two unused spares so I bought 2 duratracs with the 2 unused spares. Now that I have new tires the ride is awesome, it really enhances the already smooth riding rancho/spring over setup. I know Sierra h3 wants to eventually run this setup and is more then welcome to test drive it or anyone else for that matter.

I will run these for 1 1/2 to two years. Next, is a set of 37in Goodyear MT/R's. that gives me some time to beef up my current setup or go 4speeds route. Personally I wanna beefed up steering rack and somehow retrofit another diff for strength and regear then run bigger tires. Stay tuned!

Btw, just drove to work I love this setup cruises at 70 like a caddy

Thanks, I have done quite a few trails. Hope to wheel with you soon with that new H1.

I met a guy with a 2001 Hummer on Friday night, once I catch up on maintenance and go over the suspension he wants to go over to Rowher.

I have AAA Premier, I thought it was one 200 mile tow and three 100 mile tows?
