Man oh man I hope this works out! I could really use a better trans in my T!

3 transmissions don't lie... The 5.3 with super charger and 37s is too much for the 4L60e!

Ok, so finally got a response from HP Tuners. Kept bumping my thread over there until they got tired of seeing it pop up. LOL

They confirmed that flashing the 2015 TCM to a 2009 OS will indeed turn it into a paperweight. So it looks like my option is to just hook it up and see if it work as is. Hoping that it does.....

reflash ECU to 2015 OS? use ECU from 2015? i don't know much about ECU tuning so these are wild guesses.

Yeah, unfortunately those options wouldn't be possible due to the 2015 using a different PCM due to the new direct injected engines.

Of course, the pics of my transmission show it attached to a 2015 direct injected 5.3 complete with harness and PCM, so a complete swap would be a possibility!

But... most likely, if this 2015 TCM doesn't work, I would buy a new TCM from GM to swap in that would work with my setup (~$450).

so you could get a whole new drivetrain, use the TBMS adapter and input shaft only, and just have to worry about the wiring then?

The e92 will not control the rest of the truck as there is no.legacy vpw (j1850) outputs to my knowledge. Most new platforms 2007+ went to.single wire gm can or traditional high speed can

The Alphas are all 2008 or newer, so wouldn't they be compatible?

Is there a thread about this on the HPtuners site? I'd like to follow it if there is.

OP, coming from a non mechanical background, some of this is difficult to grasp.

I will soon swap out my i5 with a stock alpha 5.3 engine.
After this conversion, do you think all the above would apply to my truck too?

You need to talk to 06H3... End of story.

Sorry for Hijacking. I was inquiring whether you guys think the 6L80e would fit on a swapped 3.
OP, I posted this to 'New Motor', was hoping you
and Chris could take a crack at this together.

Ok, so update on my end. Going to be dropping the H3 transfer case and pulling out it's input shaft. Place that will be doing the machining would like to measure the rockwell hardness.

Also, probably purchasing a 2011 6L80e to use, as it seems unlikely that I will be able to make the 2015 trans work. I researched the part number on the 2011 transmission, and it was used in vehicles from 2008-2012, so that should jive with my 2009 PCM. Will be updating again soon.

To keep all info together:

The 2011 transmission is GM part number: 24245017

Doing some research shows that it contains the valvebody/TCM (T43) 24241890

That valvebody/TCM combo is used in lots of applications dating from 2007-2012. It's the same valvebody/TCM as the 08-09 Hummer H2 uses. I feel much more confident in being able to make this 2011 trans work than I do with the 2015. Every part number I search for on it (2015 trans), only pulls up 2014-15 vehicle applications...

Trans is being delivered to my house within the next hour. Will post up a couple pics then.

* Also looks like it was used in 2009-10 CTS-V cars. That's good news, because I know for a fact that they share the same E67 PCM as my H3.

So..... If that new output shaft ends up being NOT feasible.....

What are your thoughts on an Atlas 2spd transfer case?

Other option would be run the transfer case that came behind 6L80e, and then do Ford straight axle swap.

I'm kinda committed now. Lol

Lol I could keep trying, but at $1500 a pop, it wouldn't take very long to pay for an Atlas!

We'll see though, worst case they can combine the stock h3 input gear with the splined section of the 6L80e tcase shaft.

The whole problem is that crazy helical gear that's part of the h3 tcase shaft.

I had the idea of running an H2 transfer case and a dodge AAM 925. the AAM 925 isn't that special of an axle, maybe slightly weaker than a dana 60 and almost no aftermarket, but the electronics are all GM so ABS and traction control still work. dunno what else would be required to use a driver drop T case, though.

Do you know if the 6L80e output shaft is shared with the 4L80e?

Should contact these guys:
