I don't pull things often but hopefully my .02 will help you. The most I ever towed with an H3 Alpha was a Honda CRX (about 2,000lbs) for about 150 miles. It obviously towed it easily but definitely added a lot to the stopping distance and you could feel that the H3 was being strained. I would definitely go with a larger vehicle to pull an enclosed car trailer. Even if you were comfortable with being over-weight, I don't think the added wear and tear on the H3 is worth it.

I think Ghostbuster gave you the best advice. If you can, keep the Alpha and get a dedicated tow rig.

The Uhaul trailer I saw last night has a braking system so stopping power wasn't a problem. Most large trailers are going to require trailer brakes so you'd have to install the module on any rig regardless.

It's not what they can pull,it's what they can stop and the chassis can handle. Take a good look at the factory hitch,it's not a true class three. I'm not sure why this is so hard to grasp.

It's not, i just thought that picture was funny. That boat has got to be atleast 20ft.

Last year I pulled a 23' 5600 lb(loaded) camp trailer almost 5000 miles in one trip to Yellowstone from Ohio and back. I do have trailer brake controller and equalizer hitch. The Alpha pulled flawlessly. Didn't pass many gas stations though. Trailer brakes are a must have with that weight.
