Anyone getting an iPhone 5?

Just curious. I have an iPhone 4S for work and a Galaxy S3 for personal. I'm not really a fan of the iPhone and am further annoyed by the iOS6 upgrade that removed Google Maps.

So, did you preorder or stand in line and have you received your phone?

S3 by far. Like the flexibility with Android and the larger screen. Removable battery, SD card for extra storage, lots of great features in the S3.

I am sticking to my 4S. As it turns out, the new smaller dock connector on the iPhone 5 won't allow me to control the iPhone's iPod from the hands-free setup in my car, making the iPhone 5 a non-starter for me. This is the case even with the converter plug. Apparently, the converter plug will not allow the "iPod control" interface standard.

I am a die hard android fan, and u do not like a company that makes me bend to their will and whim just to make my phone work. Im talking about not being able to change my batt, sd card, or use google maps!!

My wife has the 5 in her sights, she's about run her 4s into the ground. I can't stand the damn things, nothing about them is intuitive to me and very frustrating to try using.
She's always trying to cram the dam thing in my face when she's driving and needs instructions on how to get somewhere, here use this and just follow that---I've come close to throwing that freakin' phone out the window many times.
Don't even get me started on her flipping Mac Book.......

No smartphones for me, Apple or otherwise. I hate my "dumbpone" and would just as soon throw it in the river. All that said...please keep buying them! AAPL is a big part of my portfolio.

I have a phone... somewhere around here... I believe that it is in the little pocket just forward of the gear selector in my H3. I really don't use it. I don't know how to text; all I can do is open it up (flip) and dial a number.

I really like OnStar phone better - all I have to say is "redial" and within a few seconds I am talking to my wife.
If I need to reach out and chat, I have my Ham Radio.

I haven't really embraced the whole iPhone/Android/crack-berry thing.

I have the phone more as a personal portable computer than as a phone. It allows me to check in here, approve new members, take pictures and post them, connect to an OBDII reader in my truck (and see the damn P0014 code again!), use GPS maps and direction, etc. I barely use the phone feature every month.

X2

I always wanted a smartphone that just worked. For years I tried making various crappy Palm Pilots and Windows CE devices do the things that the iPhone (and droids) do so effortlessly. Then I got my first iPhone and I was pretty much sold by virtue of how well it worked. Compared to Blackberries, Palm Pilots etc even the first iPhone felt like such a step up

definitely not getting it. my cousins all pre ordered it. and now they're complaining because they have to buy this to get this work to work and buy that to make that work. nope. not for me.

I def could use a new smartphone but lookin into the Droid 4 (I still have the original Droid because I love physical keyboards), Droid Razr Mazz, or Galaxy S3.

I hear great things about the Razr and of course the Maxx is awesome with that large battery. If I didn't get the S3 I probably would've picked up the Maxx or the Galaxy Nexus

I had heard of the dock issues but hadn't heard of real examples - and I think the planned obsolescence of millions of car adapters is a bad, bad thing. Really would've been nice that if they changed the connector they had gone to a standard agreed to by all of the other phone manufacturers.

I buy only unlocked phones since I no longer want to deal with the $2000-3000 contracts you are tied to in order to get a discount on a phone. T-mobile and a few other carriers will actually give you a plan discount per month if you already own your own handset.

Right now I'm sticking with the Google Android handsets, I'm currently using the Nexus S but I'm thinking of upgrading to the Nexus Galaxy at the google play store, their unlocked gsm worldphone model is $329 or $349...

Iphone 5 looks nice but the unlocked version will put me at $650 or so.

Could not agree more. From what I've read, they decided to go to the newer, smaller, connector because the iPhone 5 would not have allowed room for the old style dock connector. That's fine, but why do they have to eliminate such a key feature?

My 4S is upgraded with iOS6, and it kept Google maps, and the last update on maps added the 3D feature... Your results must vary. I'm pretty pleased with the 4S, and won't be updating for a 5, although I wish the iPad 3 had calling capability, then I'd just ditch the phone, use a headset with the Pad, and carry the damn thing like an old school boom box... :horns:
