As I make my nightly check through all the forums, H4O, HXC, Pirate4x4, expedition portal, and JK-forum (to be up to date for my brothers JK) I saw this thread.

This very well may be a bizarre accident or not. Who knows...Hopefully this doesnt turn into the whole issue like the raptor where one guy bends the frame and now its known to be weak. Someones brand new 2012 JK with under 600 miles on it randomly caught on fire. They are not sure if its a defect yet but in 2010 they had a recall for fires on 2010 JKs with auto trannys. Time will tell...Just posting this up for JK guys on here so they are kept up to date on a big safety issue.

I have two thoughts on this

One: I personally think the guy should of waited to post this, what if it was some pist off guy who wanted to get him back for something and now the speculation of 2012s catch fire can really scare people away.

Or two: maybe it is true seeing the 2010s had an issue and looking on the JK-forum a member said his service writers jaw dropped when he said is this recall on the tranny cooler lines for the fire incident? It almost sounds like they didnt want that to get out.

2010's has a recal that were starting engine fires. "hot oil" was the issue spilling out onto the manifold or something like that.

I saw the post on the new 2012. IMHO, I think it was either his charger or someone set it on fire. ...or there's more to the story than posted.

Either way, that sucks. new truck AND two other vehicles. at least the house did not do with it.
