It was a great trip, great company, and great weather. I got stuck once but did not break anything. I learned more about dos and donts on the trail and more about the capabilities of my T.

Looks like a blast!

That was one heck of a haul for you Kevin. I hope to make it out there someday as well. Guess I won't be the first slantback on the island!

Great pics.

Drummond Island 2012

Pictures and first video of the Drummond Island trip from last week. For the second year now, this group was able to use a private hunting club to stay at that has all the extras. We had a great couple days of wheeling.

Sorry Brian I just found your thread here. I added some shots from Drummond Island over in the "stories from the trail" section. Maybe someone can merge mine into yours?

Done! Threads merged and Pappibri's original thread moved to "Stories from the trail" section.

Yea.We are already making tentative plans to venture up to Drummond Island in Oct. for the fall color change and to see the bridge. Thing is neither of us have ever been to the area and really do not desire to do any heavy off roading at the time. Really would just like to relax and do some scenic easy trail ride with lots of color change to look at. Anyone with pointers? Were coming from the Milwaukee?Racine/Kenosha area....Chris

It would be a straight run across US 2 for you guys. Then a short jog up 75. Pretty easy to find yourself there.

There are a lot of forest trails and roads that are fine for an easy ride. When you get to the island, there are maps that have all the different levels of trails / roads called out. (2wd low clearance, 2wd high clearance, 4wd, and 4wd high clearance / modified). All the trails are doable in a stock H3 and there are often by-passes. Shoot me a PM with your email and I can send you the GPS tracks

Sometimes, that is the best way to learn. Getting stuck means learning. When I am not not leading on a trail, I like to try harder lines.

looks like an awesome time and a really fun trail system.

where is drummond island located?

It is the far east tip of upper Michigan. North and east of it is Canada. 150 square mile island that you take a ferry to and has only a few hundred full time residents. Most of the island is made up of state forest land.
