I went with a Duracell AGM from Sam's Club in the red H3 when the old battery died, it's done really well. Even after leaving the red H3 sitting for a few months it started right up. I have pics in my build thread I think.

It's four years since I did this repair. Optima battery and new terminals. Some careful trimming of the battery cover and it's worked great for me.

What is the size on that optima red top? Im ready to bite the bullet on a new battery soon since I now know that the alternator is working harder with the weak battery that I have. At the place I work at I highly recommend getting AGM batteries due to points already said like better heat/vibration resistance and reliability.

I think my battery of 5 years is starting to go, on my scan gauge the battery seems to sit at around 11.2 volts with the vehicle off. More weak than actually testing bad.
:whaa:At 11.2 volts, your battery is at less than 10% SOC (State of Charge). I'm surprised it hasn't left you stranded.

It's definitely too low, but to check SOC with a voltmeter you need to make sure all loads are disconnected, even a small load will draw the voltage down and give you a false reading. This will also help you make sure there isn't a parasitic draw on it as well that is above normal.

True, but a normal small load won't draw a healthy battery down to 10% SOC.
