Ran carfax on it Truck spent first 7yrs if life in West Virginia, so I am conferned about thw rust. Car is currently in florida and I can only see the pictures. Outside looks pretty clean, tires 60% life left No pictures of under the body. Would rust be a big problem for 2009? What so you guys think? Btw truck is on auction with buy now option. Thanks

Is it a Alpha (V8)? If not, I think you can find a cheaper priced H3 with the same amount of miles. If you're concerned about rust. Ask for some under carriage pics so you have piece of mind. I just recently bought a 2011 Charger RT. It was a Michigan State police car and has rust but only surface rust underneath.

If you are planning to start a build or would like to offroad frequently. I highly recommend that you get a 3 with an adventure package. Here is how you can identify one:

Thank you all for your replies, its amazing to see people helping. I am member on other forums(different car) and I try to help others as much as I can.
So, No it wasnt an alpha( I know I wish it was alpha), it was adventure package and it sold for more than my budget allowed me so I am looking for another one.
I am ok with 2007 3.7 I5, has to have leather and not more than 115k miles. I wont drive it much off-road although I plan on putting 33" grapplers.

What do you guys suggest what price I sould pay for one that is adventure package or Lux package? 2007 115k miles (black or white color)
Seems that dealers are maniacal with their pricing here in TX. I dont mind flying to another state and getting a good one.
Please need advice.
Thanks!

You're welcome. There are alot of people on this forum that have tons of knowledge with the Hummer and offroading and are willing to help out anyone with questions or concerns. To answer your question about the price range of an H3 adventure with (+-)115K, I'd be looking in the $9K to $11 range. Now there are some people selling true H3 adventure packages for under $9K that don't know what they really have. So just take your time and find that great deal out there. Keep in mind that alot of the H3s out there are going to need replacement parts like upper control arms, new bushings for front, back, and crossmember, maybe a radiator if its still the factory OEM since they have a tendency to crack at the top and a few other things that alot of us guys and girls have ran into along the way. I'm not trying to scare you away from a purchase of an H3 because it has been the best vehicle I've ever owned but there are things that eventually fail but this vehicle is very easy to work on especially if you have a little mechanical knowledge.

Hey kuljo just bought my first H3 Alpha about a month ago and I spend a lot of time searching. One thing I learned is that H3 engines are pretty robust even with higher mileage; however, other parts may not be. So if you are to consider something over 115k, I would have it checked out by an independent mechanic. It usually costs $75 to $125. This really saved my behind because I was ready to pull the trigger on this one: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/l-Used...ting=177099590 until I found out all that was wrong:

- AC wasn’t blowing cold (Could mean the AC needs to be reloaded and if that isn’t the problem that is gonna be one expensive bill)
- Brakes and Rotors need to be replaced
- Needs steering alignment
- Seepage around oil pan
- Seepage around Trans pan
- Front diff leaking
- Needs new tires
(About 2.5k to 3k total in fixes)

This really pissed me off because Dealer (All be it an online one) stated in their listing "There are not any problems with the vehicle as it drives amazing." and has "Ice Cold AC". Good luck on your search!

Guys I can not thank you enough for sharing your experience.
I am very familiar with the mechanics and know how to check car myself. Regarding Alpha I would love to buy, but it seems I cant find one thats under $15k... the best deal so far I have is 2007 H3 3.7L luxury, 3 owners( 2yrs ,6yrs,2yrs-current)in Florida, . beige leather inisde, 2 roofracks, tires 40% life left, rims are luxury ones full spokes chrome, chrome mirors, monsoon sound, only thing is black paint fenders are tidy but fainted(I dont think its a hard to fix). Everything else seems good shape. Video of engine running smooth. Private owner claims no leaks or any kind. Asking $12k
What you guys think.
Here is link: https://tampa.craigslist.org/hil/cto/d/2007h3-hummer-4x4-one/6259480176.html
Btw he has those nets that go behind front seats.
I am not sure why he would say one owner. I talked to hin he sent me a bunch of pictures and videos of the car in live iphone picture exchange.
Let me know what you guys think.

The truck is definitely very clean. Just don't like that it doesn't have the adventure package. The question I think all of us need to know is what you plan on using the truck for. Do you plan on offroad a lot with it or just use it on the street as a daily driver?

I would see if you could get it for 10.5k to 11k to make it pretty good deal. The adventure package is only useful when you are off road. Lol there is absolutely no use for a diff lock on road. Most of the people on this forum are into wheeling and like to modify increase the utility and off-road capability of their vehicles, which is why I stress getting that Adv pckg to new members that are looking to offroad. But if you're not into that, that's fine and I would say it is not a necessity. From the photos it definitely has a lot of factory chrome for my taste, but then again it is up to you. One more question: do you plan on towing anything? Can't tell form the pictures, but the H3 came with an optional tow package. This includes a plug in harness and a receiver that is slightly then the factory one.

Okay, so there are two that I found that I like, one that I posted the link for, another is 2008 114k miles black; has rear locking diff, dvd in headrests, monsoon, black leather, grill guard, roof racks, no running boards, ( rear accident minor), tow package. Also for $12k. the deal with this one the owner divorced and the car belongs to him by divorce decree so car is in Arkansas with his brother who is an attorney, car came from california, the guy moved to florida with new wife. And plus the car is not paid for bank has the title, his brother (attorney) suggests to set up an escrow agreement and do it that way. I am so not sure about this one since its kind if complicated but doable. What you guys think is it worthed to go for this one or just get one from florida with cashmere leather.?!?

No title, stay away from it. Possibly a scam. If you don't plan on off roading then find the cheapest 3 you can find in the color you want. The normal wear and tear items are easy to fix and plenty of help here to get you through the process. Good luck.

I think 12 is reasonable for a southern vehicle in good mechanical and cosmetic condition. Fwiw, I'm a car dealer (and personally have a h3t) and these vehicles seem to hang out in that range if they are decent. I'm in Michigan, we are always fighting rust.... buy the southern h3. If it is quite nice, it would probably bring close to 11500 or so here wholesale!
