Your absolutly right here... When I hear cheap I think in relation to cost of vehicle and invested mods. My cheap buffer is anything under $2000 ;)

All too true, there isn't much that is cheap on these trucks.

Other than the cheap interior plastic that costs a leg and arm?

Uhhh, you might want check the prices of the cheap plastic trim. There is nothing cheap about it. Most of my mods have cost less than buying a trim panel or two lol

Speaking of mods.. Just tried to install by superchips flashpaq and it is saying error #E43. This comes up when it attempts to confirm stock integrity.. It is saying my truck is not stock.. Anyone have any insight?

Are you the first owner of the truck? Perhaps it was flashed by something in the past.

Try updating your Flashpaq by plugging it into your computer and downloading their software. If that doesn't work you might need to call Superchips and / or have your truck reflashed to stock by a GM dealership.

Not sure who you spoke with, but Superchips staff is really helpful and general on top of customer support issues, they have helped me on numerous occaisions. Of course they are less than an hour from me and I can go to their shop if I need to. Glad you got it resolved.

Thanks for all the responses. I think I'll be sucking it up and stay in the slow lane for now. Considering the regearing though

I just got my Airdoc and superchips programmer installed.. I can defiantly tell a difference on the high end side and on take offs.. Don't get me wrong its not a dramatic change but its noticeable and worth the cost..

Regearing makes a big difference, especially if you are running bigger tires than stock. If you do, you will need a programmer to adjust for the gears.

-Better air intake (either Volant or simple drop in K&N filter and aftermarket intake tube)

K&Ns are garbage. They filter about as well as a screen door. Stick with a filter that actually filters and protects your engine.

-Handheld programmer that disables Torque Management like Diablo programmer

Torque management is what gives the transmission (which is really too light duty for the H2) an acceptable lifespan. If you disable it, you will shorten the life of the trans. Not saying don't do it, but understand the tradeoffs if you do.

I have used K&N filters for many years and never had an issue with them

I have 127K miles on my original tranny and put my foot into it hard everywhere I go. I have increased shifting firmness with the program, 4.56:1 gears, 37" tires, disabled torque managment, no internal tranny heat exhanger in radiator, run Redline tranny fluid, seperate tranny cooler and change my tranny fluid/filter every 50K. I dont shift when the vehicle is moving. I have never lost a tranny before. Maybe I do something different than the average, I dont know...but I drive it like I stole it and never an issue.

I really don't want to start a war; the damage that is inflicted on an engine by a K&N air filter is not visible to the naked eye. Nor is it something that one can perceive with your routine oil change.

The Used Oil Analysis will show an increase in the dirt ingested by the engine. The big issue is that usually something else wears out or breaks before the dirt and grime wears the rings and camshaft to the point of failure.

As for me, I use a stock paper filter and change every 5K miles.

Question on the programmer.. I set mine on performance and it recommends 91 octane.. I can only fine 87,89, and 93 octane... Is 93 ok or is there a certain station that does 91???

You can use 91 tune, but make sure you put nothing less than 91 in it. Therefore, if you don't have 91 around you... use 93.

91 is what we have at altitude. Since the octane reduces the ignition of the fuel, causing more compression of the fuel/air mixture, when you have 18% or more less O2 in the air, the 91 works very well. 93 is normally for the low-lands and those places that have air so thick one can cut it with a knife.
